Baton[edit]

Even in the picture he is shown using a baton how can he not be one of the rare conductors conducting without baton — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.108.133.223 (talk) 20:46, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He conducted the 2002 vienna new year's concert without a baton. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.92.59.233 (talk) 15:37, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Seiji Ozawa.jpg[edit]

Image:Seiji Ozawa.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Citizenship[edit]

Does he hold U.S. citizenship and if so when did he obtain it? Badagnani (talk) 05:30, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Appearance[edit]

Why no picture? I want to see what he looks like!

That is odd; there must be thousands of pictures of Ozawa. In fact, a quick Google search turned up nearly a quarter million of them. Why not use one of these?

Personal life[edit]

This fact does not belong in the recent years section. It is a cute piece of trivia, but does not belong where it is. I'm going to pull it and the ref link out, someone can add it to a new section (personal life maybe?) but it is not a recent fact.

On July 7, 1963, Ozawa appeared as a guest on What's My Line. "A greeting to Seiji Ozawa on the conductor's 75th birthday". Baltimore Sun. Retrieved 30 November 2012.

Um, it;s wrong anyway. In 1963 Ozawa was 28, not 75. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.95.43.249 (talk) 20:07, 13 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, no one actually said or even implied that Ozawa was 75 in 1963. The cited article that mentioned his 1963 appearance on "What's My Line?" that appeared in The Baltimore Sun was published in August 2010 on the occasion of Ozawa's 75th birthday which was 1 September 2010. The article was cited merely as the source of the information about his "What's My Line?" appearance in 1963 when he was still 27 years old.Toddabearsf (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:41, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore orchestra?[edit]

"From 1977 to 1979, he was the resident conductor for the Singapore Philharmonic Orchestra". - The writer obviously confused Seiji Ozawa with Yoshinao Osawa. Infobox[edit]

There is a Banner requesting an Infobox, and a comment in the article code requesting not to add an Infobox. We need to find a consensus. The Page referred in the comment mostly results in objecting a simplified list of notable works, which doesn't have to be included in an Infobox. My vote is for adding an Infobox.--RScheiber (talk) 14:41, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Occupation[edit]

Per Klõps on Baltics: WP:BLP of East Asia, birth place are linked to Northeastern China are not independent states. It was occupation by Japan, not recognised by rest of the world.
