Clarification about mental illness and assisted suicide.[edit]

The final line in the article "53-year-old journalist Norah Vincent opted for assisted suicide on July 6, 2022, 14 years after experiencing what it was like to live as a man." and plenty of social media accounts imply that her mental health issues are a direct result of Norah Vincent's time spent as Ned. However in this discussion of her book Adeleine https://lithub.com/on-the-subject-of-my-suicide/, she discusses a prior suicide attempt and reflects on "spent the better part of your (her) adult life vigorously entertaining and just as vociferously disavowing thoughts of self-harm" Vincent's battle with depression was one she fought most of her adult life, and while her 18 months living as Ned may have contributed, even been a catalyst to her breakdown and depression, it is irresponsible and inaccurate to imply that her assisted suicide death was a direct result of her time spent living as Ned. 47.151.31.119 (talk) 21:50, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
