Equivalent (and simpler) definition?

Can we say that a space X is semi-locally simply connected if: for every x in X there exists a simply connected neighborhood U of x? This definition doesn't refer to induced homomorphisms of fundamental groups. 90.38.202.132 (talk) 12:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I applied the edit, then realised it was wrong, and then undid it. Loops in the neighbourhood U need only be contractible in the whole space X, not necessarily in Uitself. Stephen.G.McAteer (talk) 00:02, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
