This article seems to take a general stance of blaming western powers for the inability of Iranian air carriers to acquire spare parts for their aircraft. There is an underlying notion that if it weren't for those devilish americans/euros, this tragedy would never have happened. There are also some grammatical errors that I'll clean up. This is a terrible incident and loss of life as any aviation accident can be, but it's not necessary to have pointed verbiage whilst telling the story. The political realities have nothing to do with the maintenance practices of the aircraft's operator and their willingness to continue accepting paying customers in light of any potential maintenance shortfalls. Furthermore the aircraft was of recent, Iranian manufacture (as Iran is always very keen to point out), so the lack of availability of American or European parts, or parts for older soviet-designed aircraft is not relevant to the story. I left the bit that was cited in the al jazeera piece regarding spares and maintenance practices as it is indicative of the general aviation practice in Iran, but removed lines that would seem to suggest this crash may have been caused directly or indirectly by the sanctions. 108.53.110.227 (talk) 23:28, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Although I am not sure is relevant to this accident, "According to an Iranian journalist, some Iranian airlines have been forced to use refurbished parts to keep aircraft in service due to international sanctions hampering modernization of their fleets with newer US or European equipment" has nothing to do with a not that old five-year old Iranian-built airliner from Russian components and Russian engines. And that was my point, thank you. It was included in the source for some strange reason but bears no relevance to the incident aircraft.
