ACF AIs

[edit]

I've edited the section to remove the implication that ACF AIs act as military personnel - this is emphatically not the case. They are civilians, not subject to the Service Discipline acts even when wearing uniform - which has to display distictive ACF rank slides. This is made absolutly clear in the ACF manual and other publications. Their appointment is not 'equivalent to' a WO1 or 2 in the Army any more than the 'ranks' of their cadets are equivalent to army ranks.

ACF AIs do a very good job but they are no more members of the military than say Scout Leaders, they are valuable (paid) volunteers in an MoD sponsored youth organisation. To quote from the ACF article in here:

"The Army Cadet Force (ACF) is a British youth organisation that offers progressive training in a multitude of the subjects from military training to adventurous training (such as Outward Bound) and first aid, at the same time as promoting achievement, discipline, and good citizenship, to boys and girls aged 12 to 18 year olds and 9 months." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tragino (talkcontribs) 14:25, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
