Problems[edit]

  • The article is inadequately written, since there is only one external reference/citation provided and there is [bias] and lack of neutral point of view. Many more citation needed, otherwise some facts have to be removed. Chelentano (talk) 07:41, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The offered in the article external [resource] uses more common first name spelling "Sergei", while this article uses "Sergey". I corrected this to bring the article in accordance to the offered external resource. Chelentano (talk) 07:41, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • I restored the first paragraph to the one of the earlier versions, since some anonymous user made it sound too extreme and vulgar using expression "Con Artist". This is one of the examples, when article lacks neutral point of view, required by Wikipedia, while offering minimum citations and external references. Another example: the sentence "Later Mavrodi created more schemes, which were prevalent in the 1990s in Russia". What schemes? Or it says "To avoid criminal charges, he also worked various odd jobs, such as a night watchman in the Moscow Metro." Were this fact comes from? According to the Wikipedia recommendation, [[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons | "biographies of living persons must be written conservatively, with regard for the subject's privacy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid paper; it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives"]] ...so the article needs more work. Chelentano (talk) 07:41, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The use of his middle name "Panteleevich" in the article title is strongly recommended, since there are quite a few people with this first/last name and the article may sound offensive to them, so the middle name would set them apart. Also the use of middle name would be consistent with the original Russian version of the article. Chelentano (talk) 08:09, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Please note, the most of the article content was removed by moderator for a reason. We have to follow fundamental Wikipedia rules and principals:
    • Encyclopedic content must be verifiable.
    • Neutral point of view.
    • Content that violates any copyrights will be deleted.
    • Unsourced material about living persons must be removed immediately.
    • Be very firm about the use of high quality references. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion
    • Because this is the English Wikipedia, English-language sources should be used in preference to non-English language sources.

Chelentano (talk) 03:39, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"In preference" does not mean that other languages are fobidden and must be deleted. - Altenmann >t 05:55, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did not say it's forbidden. However:
  • The fundamental principal of Wikipedia is that content must be verifiable. Russian language content generally is not verifiable for 99% of English readers.
  • Neutral point of view is also hard to evaluate in foreign language references.
  • Foreign language links make more sense when you present maps, images or general site.
  • According to Wikipedia, when presenting material about living persons be very firm about the use of high quality references. This include foreign language references. If we don't have consensus about quality of these references, they will be removed.Chelentano (talk) 02:14, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is your personal interpretaion of wikipedia rules, not supported by policies. Any attempts to remove valid references from reliable sources will be promptly reverted. - Altenmann >t 04:12, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The two sentences "He is of Jewish descent. In 1988, he founded the MMM Ponzi scheme." are alluding that because of being of Jewish descent, he founded that Ponzi scheme, which is hinting at the anti-Semitic stereotype that Jews are money-hungry and greedy. His religious and hereditary background are superfluous in the MMM subsection anyway. If at all, they fit into the first paragraph with basic info on the person. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bonz (talkcontribs) 09:39, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • In the sentence "He was then elected as aboh joshua obtaining parliamentary immunity." - what does "aboh joshua" stands for? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sizif (talkcontribs) 15:31, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As he obviously operated outside Russia, i.e. India, China, and Africa, he must have had some help regarding operating in these respective languages. When looking at people and activities it should not be omitted how the language barriers were overcome, given that the man cannot speak all these languages. 2001:8003:A928:800:E006:C828:347B:60DD (talk) 01:07, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
PS: The German language wikipedia page is under the German spelling Mawrodi and a little more elaborate. 2001:8003:A928:800:E006:C828:347B:60DD (talk) 01:14, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
