User: max rspct has asked me to check this page as I wrote a longish overview on life and work of Tretyakov on the German wikipedia. There I'm registered under the name of Koni Meier.

There are some discrepancies between the two articles:

In the German anthologies published, the August 9, 1939 is named as date of death. That's two years difference.

The date of arrest according to these sources is: Juli 16, 1937.

The rehabilitation is said to have been in 1956, not in the 60ies.

These discrepancies might be connected to differing stories told about Tretyakow's death. I haven't been able to verify completely, if he has been murdered or if he has commited suicide. It seems to be certain that he was - in one way or another - victim of the stalinist purges.

I can't account for the discrepancy, but I can confirm that The Cambridge Guide to Theatre (ed. Banham, 1998) concurs with your dates, though only a year, 1939, is given. The short article concludes: "Arrested and executed in 1939, Tretyakov was rehabilitated in the 1960s, when the influence of his collaboration with Meyerhold could be seen in Yury Lyubimov's staging of Ten Days that Shook the World and in other productions at Moscow's Taganka Theatre" (p.1123).
