The reference says "John Major made it clear that ... he did not want to appoint a new shadow cabinet". So although there may have been some ex-Cabinet ministers speaking from the opposition front bench about their former roles for a couple of weeks, I don't see how that could be described as a Shadow Cabinet.--Rumping (talk) 16:13, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reference isn't working at the moment so I can't check. However I think there's a danger of reading too much and placing too much emphasis on titles. I think Major meant he didn't want to do another round of selections, promotions & dismissals when it would cover such a short period. His team operated from the Shadow Cabinet room and I think meetings were described as the SC, so if it walks like a duck... Timrollpickering (talk) 20:07, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
