Height

[edit]

The source given for his height of 6'4 says he is 6'1. I've corrected it, as NFL Combine measurements are the most reliable source we're going to find. Senor Vergara (talk) 14:19, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shane recently did a Q&A on the mixedmartialarts.com forums. Some people asked for his height and in the thread this was his response: "6'2 is what I list myself at no bs I am likely 1/4 inch shorter then 6'2." http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/?go=forum_framed.posts&forum=1&thread=1543857&page=1&pc=224 I'm not sure if we can reliabley source a forum though? And, aside from the forum issue, I'm not sure that using an athlete as a source of their own measurements is a good idea, in general. In this particular case, Carwin's claim that he grew from 6'1 3/8 to 6'1 3/4 isn't unbelievable. But we know athletes in the realms of professional wrestling, pro football, and pro basketball often exaggerate their measurements. So, I'm inclined to feel like referencing the person in question is only a good idea when there's nothing else to go by. Senor Vergara (talk) 23:34, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that height is a little hard to judge, but UFC officially has him (or at UFC 96, had him) at 6"3. Now during that fight, he was a tiny bit taller than Gabe Gonzaga who wiki lists as 6"2 (as did UFC in that fight). Now it's unlikely that people grow between the time of that combine source and now, but not impossible.

mention in the steroid case

[edit]

Ive lifted it out, we don't have anything about it at all, all we have is that he was on this doctors list, we don't know if he took any of these steroids, he was not fighting at the time and he has had regular drug test whilst fighting and never been found to have any problems. There is no reason to add it as it has little to no content value, if we add it we would have to explain it correctly, and that would give the whole thing too much weight. The content was, Carwin was recently linked to a steroid case - which just makes you think, linked in what way? The main story is here http://blog.al.com/live/2010/08/pharmacist_in_mobile_ala_stero.html and the google search has some results but when you look there is nothing worthy of reporting. The reports say that Carwin has said he will comment later, if and when he does it may be worth a comment. Off2riorob (talk) 19:37, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd add that the excuse "someone else will add it anyway" is not acceptable. If there are problems keeping WP:UNDUE trivia out of WP:BLPs then that can be addressed by protecting the page: not by adding stuff like this to pre-empt other editors. TFOWR 19:44, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't this relevant information though? The fact that a pharmacy company that is currently under trial for distribution of steroids has Shane Carwin listed as a customer? IRC the prosecutor in that case has exactly what they believed Carwin bought from the pharmacy spelled out as well. Maybe if we can present the information in an entirely factual manner and without insinuating that he took any of them? Bad intentionz (talk)
I doubt that would be possible and the whole story would then grow to undue weight. We also only know that he was on the Pharmacists list and not what he was actually supplied , the chemist got 4 years. Lets wait and see what he comments about it and that may well be something to add. Off2riorob (talk) 12:13, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys after reading WP:BLP I have decided to include the Carwin story in an entirely factual manner. It was this quote in BLP in particular that led to this decision:

"In the case of public figures, there will be a multitude of reliable published sources, and BLPs should simply document what these sources say. If an allegation or incident is notable, relevant, and well-documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it. If it is not documented by reliable third-party sources, leave it out.

IMO it is indeed notable that a federal prosecutor alleges Carwin to have purchased steroids. It is also relevant because fighters are presumed to be competing without any intents to circumvent the rules, and it is also well-documented because a quick google of "shane carwin steroids" will bring up numerous reliable sources reporting the story. Also, I'm not sure I understand why this particular story would be undue. Bad intentionz (talk) 05:55, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I don't understand that either. Its a fact that he was linked to that investigation and can be backed up by multiple sources. You don't have to take more than 1 or 2 sentences to mention it. Nothing "undue" about that. AaronY (talk) 05:23, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this white or light man have a small nose?

Did he break his nose or was he borned this way? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnthonyTheGamer (talkcontribs) 18:46, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
