@Bladesmulti, Joshua Jonathan, and AmritasyaPutra: Here is another article and similar content. Can you guys check, if this is worth including. --User:Vigyani 08:28, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One of the strong reason behind inserting such material to Satyanand Saraswati was that he is not alive anymore, no one was violating Wikipedia:BLP by inserting the allegations. But Shankaranada is a very different subject. No investigation have been made and it reads like a Wikipedia:GOSSIP. Bladesmulti (talk) 08:32, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Namaste Vigyani, I think it is not yet ready for inclusion, Like Bladesmulti said, WP:BLP will require sources better than what were presented and the title was a definite no no. --AmritasyaPutraT 10:27, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It is not about citations, it is just about anything that has not been proven. I can cite a few pages where even almost proven allegations have not been inserted. See Wikipedia:BLPCRIME. Bladesmulti (talk) 10:35, 21 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 25 January 2017[edit]

Please make the following changes to improve the accuracy and content of the article:

CHANGE REQUEST #1 - "..self-published author.." 1a) Please Update: "Swami Shankarananda is a self-published author of several books on meditation and the philosophy and practice of Kashmir Shaivism." 1b) Change To  : "Swami Shankarananda is a published author of several books on meditation and the philosophy and practice of Kashmir Shaivism." 1c) Rationale Is : There is no evidence or source to suggest that Swami Shankarananda has self-published his books. There are 4 books listed in the biography and there are no references to "self-published".

CHANGE REQUEST #2 - "..(Shiva Ashram), now called the Sri Nityananda Ashram.." 2a) Please Update: " He is a spiritual teacher in Australia[1][2] where he founded a residential spiritual school (Shiva Ashram) , now called the Sri Nityananda Ashram where about 20 seekers live and members of the wider public visit for programs, retreats and courses. The former Shiva Ashram closed in 2015[3][4]" 2b) Change To  : "He is a spiritual teacher in Australia[1][2] and founded two residential spiritual schools, the Shiva Ashram and the Sri Nityananda Ashram. The Sri Nityananda Ashram is residence to spiritual seekers and is open to members of the wider public for programs, retreats and courses. The former Shiva Ashram closed in 2015[3][4]" 2c) Rationale Is : There is no evidence or source to suggest a link between the Shiva Ashram and Sri Nityananda Ashram. The newspaper citation identifies the Shiva Ashram as a business operating entity, which has gone into liquidation ("[1]"). There is no evidence or source to support the statement, "..where he founded a residential spiritual school (Shiva Ashram) , now called the Sri Nityananda Ashram.."

CHANGE REQUEST #3 - "..residential Ashram on the Mornington Peninsula.." 3a) Please Remove: "In 1991 he founded a residential Ashram on the Mornington Peninsula." 3b) Rationale Is : This information is repeated. The synopsis section of the Wikipedia article identifies that Swami Shankarananda founded two spiritual schools. The Wikipedia page, "Shiva Ashram", provides organisational and location information.

CHANGE REQUEST #4 - "Lineage" section 4a) Please Update: "Shankarananda has held several events with other teachers in his lineage[6] and, in 2009, launched a website that documents Bhagavan Nityananda, Swami Muktananda and the many gurus of his lineage.[7]" 4b) Change To  : "Shankarananda studied Kashmir Shaivism under his guru Swami Muktananda, a disciple of Bhagavan Nityananda." 4c) Rationale Is : The statement, "Shankarananda has held several events with other teachers in his lineage", does not add to the informational value of the article. The statement, "..and, in 2009, launched a website that documents Bhagavan Nityananda, Swami Muktananda and the many guru's of his lineage.[7]" is about the existence of a website and not relevant to the discussion of Shankarananda's lineage. The suggested sentence is a more precise statement of "Lineage", and is extracted from information content within the Wikipedia article.

CHANGE REQUEST #5 - "Controversy" section 5a) Please Update: "In 2015, two newspapers reported on allegations of “secret sexual relations” between Shankarananda and women in the ashram community.[10][11]" 5b) Change To  : "In 2015, two newspapers reported on allegations of “sexual relations” between Shankarananda and some members of the Shiva Ashram.[10][11]" 5c) Rationale  : There is no such quote, "secret sexual relations", within the newspaper citations (Refer to citations [10][11]). The newspaper citations refer to "sexual relations". For correctness, the newspaper citations allege sexual relations between Shankarananda and some women and members within the Shiva Ashram community. The newspaper articles do not include the second, Nityananda Ashram.

CHANGE REQUEST #6 - "Controversy" section 6a) Please Remove: "On hearing the revelations, some members of the community stayed while others chose to leave." 6b) Rationale  : The highlighted content is speculative; it assumes, "On hearing the revelations, some members of the community stayed while others chose to leave". There is no evidence or source to support why people left.

CHANGE REQUEST #7 - "Controversy" section 7a) Please Remove: "Yoga Australia suspended its accreditation of Shiva Ashram programs,[12] and the organization went into liquidation[13]. Shankarananda resigned as director but remained as spiritual head,[14] as well as retaining the main ashram property.[15] The property is now called Sri Nityananda Ashram, and Shankarananda continues to run regular programs for residents and the public." 7b) Rationale  : This section duplicates the content on the "Shiva Ashram" Wikipedia page. The statement relates to the operation and administration of the Shiva Ashram as a commercial entity. The statements do not align with the biographical nature of this Wikipedia article. Please stop poor editing and please continue with good editing[edit]

Dear LightWing77, we can see that there is deep feeling on this subject. We do not wish to tell lies or slander people, however we are obliged to report investigations and reporting carried out by highly respected journalists and published in an extremely reputable source (The ABC is very legally aware, almost nothing ever is published that would not hold up in civil or criminal proceedings).

The additional stuff you want to add to this site is carried alongside the bad editing. May I suggest, as did the other editor, that you add this material separately, so that other editors can approve, or perhaps ask for amendment, of such material. Thank you for your efforts to make WP a better thing.

I put the above on your user talk page as well. Brunswicknic (talk) 06:14, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I will @Orangelightning100: here as well, with the same message of please continue to improve WP but please stop poor editing and behaviour. Brunswicknic (talk) 06:17, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Brunswicknic, thank you for your concerns and feedback. I know that you can presume my good faith in this and can continue to have patience and good will with my editing skills. I understand that the ABC is typically of the utmost level of respectable journalism in Australia, however even the most reputable reporting sometimes contains errors. In this particular case, the article is grossly defamatory and breaches the ABC Charter and ABC Editorial Policies on many levels. It would also not hold up in civil or criminal proceedings.
The article represents that Swami Shankarananda has ‘gotten away’ with committing numerous serious offences and that these criminal acts are still being committed. This is grossly misleading. The true facts are that the police investigated the claims 6 years ago and declined to press charges. The article is not credible. The misinformation in these articles has promoted and incited threats of violence and danger to the living person and people surrounding the subject of this autobiography. I am sure this is not something we should wish upon anyone.
In the interests of Wikipedia’s goals to present factually correct information in a neutral perspective, I will continue to make reasonable and justifiable edits. Thank you for your feedback about the style of editing, I will endeavor to improve this for the benefit of all. Thank you. LightWing77 (talk) 03:42, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
LightWing77, thank you for your considered response. I would like to reiterate three points: The ABC does occasionally make errors, but to publish as they did an article on a living person they must be very sure, very very sure, of what they said. They used very careful language and that seems to be reflected in the words of this WP article. Secondly if they have breached civil or criminal law, or even if they have breached their own charter and editorial policies, here is not the place to raise concerns, contacting them or lawyers would be appropriate. Lastly, this article (biography by the way, not autobiography) is, like all wikipedia, about citing secondary sources, what other reputable sources have said on a topic. If you have things to add, then they must have reputable sources to back them up. If you have issues with this biography of a living person then WP is very responsive to legitimate concerns, and will respond quickly to any libellous content, please see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. Thank you for contributing to this page, I would love to see you adding to other pages, given your knowledge and passion.Brunswicknic (talk) 07:13, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
