NPOV cleanup[edit]

I'll try and clean up some of the more obvious POV in this page.

As far as the notability of Larrat (as discussed at the deletion discussion for this talk page), at least one sociologist (Victoria Pitts) reports that Larrat "is recognized by insiders as part of the vanguard of the body modification movement" (In the Flesh: The Cultural Politics of Body Modification New York:Palgrave Macmillan 2003, p. 167). Once the NPOV issues are addressed, I think that it is reasonably encyclopedic to include Larrat in wikipedia, given the attention he has received from established social scientists. I agree fully, Larrat (in my opinion) is well qualified for inclusion in the encyclopedia. RuSty420 04:36, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree also, Larrat is a highly-recognizable figure in the industry, and the movement. He is the founder of the most widely used body modification website in the world. ActingWilly 23:39, 1 October 2007 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.137.138.246 (talk)

I also vote for retention. Larrat's huge number of interviews alone qualifies him as noteworthy (at least to social scientists). I have added section headings, please expand Benvenuto (talk) 09:08, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest[edit]

I've remove COI tag as the article has been cleaned up and no objections to the article content have been posted on the talk page 172.206.9.133 08:57, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Power Struggle?[edit]

Does anyone have any information about the apparent power struggle going on between Rachel et al. and Shannon over BME/IAM? His web page indicates that he is locked out of control: http://www.bodytwo.com/. Even BME's blog seems to indicate that there has been change, but does not indicate what has happened. Reid 17:52, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BMEzine has no information on this conflict, and has gone so far as not to allow comments, questions on the FAQ, unfriendly comments on IAM. This appears to back up Shannon's story on bodytwo, and in the absense of any retained comments on bme proper, this story seems to stand up. notenderwiggin

There are a bunch of post's on his wife's blog, detailing her side of the story. Shannon is apparently only locked out of the administration of IAM and BMEZine, and not locked out altogether. Basically, the issue is still really cloudy (especially as to why this leadership change came to pass) and Shannon's wiki page is probably not the best place to speculate. Gsham 21:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Certainly not, however I think the fact that he is no longer actively blogging on those site should be acknowledged, and people should be pointed to his new modblog. People without IAM access are not going to be figure out that he's not on the main site anymore from publicly available content. notenderwiggin

He already 'closed' bodytwo.com and resumed posting at the original modblog.bmezine.com url. Can someone fix this on the article? Camilafs (talk) 13:39, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My legal non-compete clause ended in May of this year and I am free to blog again, and for now am doing so on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/larratt but I don't know if that's going to be a permanent thing and I haven't decided about starting another site, so if someone decides to add that please keep an eye on it because it could go out of date.Snowrail (talk) 05:29, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Updates[edit]

At this point, I do believe the legal issues are resolved. bodytwo has been shut down permanently. As far as the accuracy of this page, I'd have to say its pretyt good. I've known Shannon for a couple years now, and this page seems to be quite "neutral" and accurate in content. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.169.216.174 (talk) 19:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clerks 2 Reference[edit]

Modified the reference to Clerks II. Former entry read that Shannon Larratt and his ex-wife appeared after Randal commented on a handicapped individual with an interest in body modification. The interest in body modification is completely fictitious. The exact quote is as follows:
Randal - "Oh fuck him, man. Trying to guilt me into walking around me because he's all gimped out? What kinda mind fuck is that shit? So I've been getting into with him, throwing it back in his stupid crippie boy face about how I love to just sit around and how I'd rather drive to the end of the block then walk.
Dante - "The guy's in a wheelchair."
Randal - "Yeah, that's why I called him crippie boy. Have a good one."
Rachel Larratt - "You fucking freak."

Contacting Shannon[edit]

I feel like a bit of a scumbag editing my own entry from time to time, so I just wanted to mention that as of now the entry is factually correct but I don't really want to add anything to it myself, and that any content from my blog at zentastic.com may be used here (pictures, whatever) if need be. I'm happy to answer any questions (by email to snowrail@gmail.com is best) that anyone has if needed for verification, or provide leads on any facts in question. I'm happy to do the same on the BMEzine.com entry if needed. (Oops didn't login -- here's my sig Snowrail (talk) 18:24, 4 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Objectiveness[edit]

Since when do people feature themselves on Wikipedia? This is self-advertisement and stinks. No mentioning of the family situation of Larratt, no youth, nothing. Maybe the famous man has to hide something. Also the trouble with German authorities is not mentioned although it was something major about being banned fom Google Germany results; it should be mentioned as Larratt proposes to hold a German passport although this is doubtful as Germany does not accept dual citizenship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.186.196.106 (talk) 00:10, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't create this page, and I definitely don't have an agenda other than accuracy, nor anything to hide. As to the youth details being left out, it was at one point in the entry but someone removed it ages ago. There are a variety of books and magazines that could probably act as a source. As to Germany, if someone wants to add the info on it there is a little more info here on BME: http://www.bme.com/news/edit/A00403/germany2.html. I don't remember where the follow-up on it all is (being banned from German google and so on), but really, I think all that is more relevant to the wiki entry on BME that the one about me because it was BME that was banned, not me. I'm not sure why you'd say you can't have a dual citizenship, because it is allowed under some circumstances -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_nationality_law#Dual_citizenship -- and I have mine via birthrite. Not that it has a legal bearing, but my parents took it seriously and my first language is German which made integrating into English schools in Canada at first. Real info?[edit]

Where was Larratt born, where did he die? Which university did he attend? Not a neutral article and info lacking. A strangely promotional fan article this article is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:46:1A12:95FD:59EA:7569:988:3321 (talk) 15:22, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
