Real historical person named Shao Kahn, not the Mortal Kombat character

I read a short entry on a real life historical man named Shao Kahn in a Funk & Wagnells set when I was a kid in the 90's. I've tried looking for info on him, but I keep getting entries on the fictional Emperor of Outworld from Mortal Kombat.
