About the paragraph: "Sharp's logo became iconic between 1982 and 2000 when English football club Manchester United displayed it on their shirts as part of a sponsorship deal. Because much of these 18 years were something of a golden era for the club, with a (coincidental) decline in fortunes happening once Vodafone became the new shirt sponsors in 2000, some fans now term this period - particularly 1993-1999, as The Sharp Years."

This paragraph is merely an anecdote. In my opinion it shouldn't be in the main body of the article. Perhaps in an additional section?

List of Sharp products

The deletion notice for List of Sharp products states "PROD - imcoplete list that is not needed, better served as category" [sic].

I found the following by googling for the page title and picking the most complete of the three I looked at. I guess it's about time that they were incorporated into the category mentioned.

Minor Phrasing Edit in Intro.

I think the last sentence in the introduction "which was a great period of success for the club" should be revised to "which was a period of great success for the club" since it works better. Anyone with me? Oh, and I don't know how to edit the intro....sorry.

Subtle, but you are probably correct. I've fixed it.

Sharp Corporate Websites (for reference)

An editor has quite rightly removed this lot from the main page -- it had got rather out-of-hand -- however, anyone researching the company for this article may wish to examine more than the main website. Although all these should be accessible from one place, the likelihood is that not all sites are linked to every other.

First feature-length film shot using mobile phone

New facts added to, and removed from article today (07:52, 9 October 2010 (UTC)) -- formatting and links added, and typos corrected, by me:

The first feature film ever shot entirely with a mobile phone was done with a Sharp phone: Sharp 902. It is called "Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me It Would Become This Bad in Afghanistan", and was directed by Cyrus Frisch. The shooting started in 2005, and the film premièred at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in January 2007.

This addition to the article is well-supported with references (see above) apart from one, very, very crucial aspect. NONE of the references mention the make of the phone, let alone the type!! Without proof of that, it doesn't belong in this article. Perhaps Frisch's own website might be able to confirm this fact? (Anyone read Dutch?)

Humanoid Robot -- unverifiable?

I am suspicious of the accuracy of the section about the robot, and have been unable to verify it as 'true' -- hence I have copied the text here 'out of the way' until appropriate reference sources can be found:

In 2006 Sharp said it has developed a humanoid robot that clears dishes from the table and puts them into a dishwasher. The robot (measuring 95x50x45cm) opens the door of the dishwasher, takes hold of teacups, rice bowls and plates, places them in the unit and closes the door.

The above text has been in the article for a long time. Recently, after the reference was marked as a dead link (which I quickly resolved), someone added a 'citation needed' tag as well. This started me thinking. The 'reference' used is actually a blog site -- hence not valid as a Reliable Source anyway -- and, as the other editor pointed out, the only mentions of this story are on Wikipedia mirrors. (The 'reference' mentions 'Nikkei' as a source, but that website requires a subscription, so I could not pursue it.) Since I work for a subsidiary of Sharp (there's no COI issues here, trust me!) I requested the opinion of someone senior in our marketing department, and in their opinion the story was unlikely to be true. Hence the appropriate course of action was to remove the text.

If someone can find a Reliable reference for this, I will gladly see it returned to the article. -- Hymek (talk) 19:19, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Conflict in historical milestones

World's first transistor calculator: This page says Sharp had it, but wikipedia's "Calculator" entry says it was IBM, with Sharp coming later. Needs to be researched and corrected. Suspect other inconsistencies may also exist. Satkomuni (talk) 14:32, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
