Jefferson City is not part of the archdiocese of St. Louis. It is part of the ecclesiastical province, but that is not what the field is meant for. McKnight is intended to be the ordinary of Jefferson City. He will not have a function in the archdiocese. It is confusing to place an archdiocese for which he has no office in the infobox. 2600:8800:1880:C359:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 02:16, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, it is not, but it is a Suffragan see of the Ecclesiastical Province of St. Louis. That's why its listed and why all of the other 250+ current bishops have listed on their infoboxes. Unless they are bishops within a Archdiocese, they will have it listed. Check it out, List of Catholic bishops of the United States. Its the standard...
This is a very bad standard, a consistent misuse of the template. Bmclaughlin9 (talk) 01:46, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think we should strive to deprecate this usage and begin the process of repairing it across the project. It gets even worse: Francesco Moraglia, Patriarch of Venice: his infobox includes Archdiocese, Province, Diocese, Metropolis, and See. Crescenzio Sepe includes only Province and See, neither of which are correct (should be Archdiocese). Those are just the ones I randomly spot-checked in Italy. Basically, @Roberto221:, {{Infobox Christian leader}} is a very versatile template with many overlapping and redundant options that are not intended to be used together. The infobox needs to be used for at-a-glance, ready information, not a comprehensive, exhaustive source. The structure of the Catholic Church indicates that the Archdiocese/Ecclesiastical Province of a suffragan bishop is largely irrelevant. He doesn't report to the Archbishop. The Archbishop can't overrule his decrees. He holds no office in the Archdiocesan curia and there is no Provincial curia at all. Let's start regularizing the infoboxes with the correct information from here on out. 2600:8800:1880:C359:5604:A6FF:FE38:4B26 (talk) 03:07, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
