Shawn Piller Shawn Piller is a principal at Piller/Segan/Shepherd, an independent content production company with a distinguished and successful track record in the entertainment industry. With his partners, Scott Shepherd and Lloyd Segan, Piller has produced (individually and collectively) over 500 hours of television and a diverse slate of motion pictures.

Career

Piller/Segan/Shepherd In 1999, Piller partnered with his father, Michael Piller, to form Piller², an independent production company headquartered in Hollywood, California. After Michael's death in 2005, the company merged with producer Lloyd Segan's indie company The Segan Company to become The Piller-Segan Company. With the addition of writer, executive producer and showrunner Scott Shepherd in 2008, the company became Piller/Segan/Shepherd.

Film Producer

Piller traveled the independent film festival circuit as producer of Too Pure (MaxMedia, Austin Film Festival, Tokyo Film Festival, and the inaugural Tribeca Film Festival), Oakland Underground (Chicago Film Festival) as well as the short films No Insurance (L.A. Film Festival 1999) and The Lonely Leave, based on the Dorothy Parker short story of the same name.

Film Director

In May 2011 Piller directed Sexy Evil Genius, which stares Katee Sackoff, Seth Green, Billy Baldwin, Michelle Trachtenberg and Harold Perrineau.

Television Producer

In 2000, Piller co-wrote and co-produced Day One, a sci fi pilot for The WB network. In 2001, Segan approached the Pillers to develop a television series from Stephen King's novel The Dead Zone. The series starring Anthony Michael Hall, debuted June 16, 2002, on the USA Network – it was the highest-rated premiere in cable history. The series, produced over a 7-year production cycle is now syndicated globally.

In 2005, Following The Dead Zone, Lloyd Segan, Michael and Shawn Piller executive-produced Wildfire. The show debuted on the ABC Family channel. Wildfire’s lengthy tenure left an indelible mark on audiences has maintained a strong following ever since.

In 2007, Segan and Shawn Piller executive-produced the ABC Family’s hit series Greek. It was Piller’s second series on ABC Family channel. In a review released soon after the premiere of the show, The New York Times claimed that Greek "captures the spirit of the hedge-fund age like nothing else." Greek ran for a remarkable 6-season cable cycle and brought the network a new audience demographic that it had not attracted before.

Currently, Piller serves as an Executive-Producer on Syfy’s all new highly acclaimed one hour drama series Haven which stars Emily Rose(ER). The series was the first to be coproduction between NBC Universal Global Networks, Syfy, and Shaw Media. Together they brought a combined audience of over quarter billion viewers. During its first season, Haven, based on the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King, was called “A must-see show” by Entertainment Weekly. Syfy renewed Haven for a second season of 13 episodes, which will begin airing on July 15, 2011. Television writer Piller has written episodes of Star Trek: The New Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, The Dead Zone and Wildfire.

Television Director

As well as executive producing Greek, Haven, The Dead Zone and Wildfire, Piller has also directed several episodes of all four.

Personal Life

Piller’s father, the late writer/producer Michael Piller, was the executive producer of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the co-creator & executive producer of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, and the co-creator and executive producer of UPN’s Legend, as well as The Dead Zone and Wildfire.

Piller and his mother, Sandra Piller, are the principal officers of Piller Records. Piller is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Piller was married to actress Lindsay Price.
