Merge[edit]

This should be merged into 2014 insurgency in Donbass. Most of the article is "background" that is already covered there, making it a fork. There are only two sentences on the actual shelling itself. RGloucester 18:31, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@RGloucester: Good point. However, what if we try to expand this article and if it simply can't be done we just merge it?—Arbutus the tree (talk) 19:31, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I still find it hard to believe that this will meet WP:PERSISTENCE. Regardless, if you think you can expand the article, try to do so. I find it unlikely, however, that there is much content that can be added. RGloucester 19:32, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose merge Article is about a notable subject, and requires details as such. Size and detail are too much for a merge. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 22:57, 14 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose merge This is a major incidence with further significance for the war. It has already provoked reaction from Russia and escalate the situation into unknown paths http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/13/ukrainian-shell-russian-border-town-donetsk O Grego (talk) 10:47, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge. Agree with RGloucester. This is just a plain fork aimed at making an an elephant out of a fly. § DDima 16:29, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose merge Per others. EkoGraf (talk) 18:25, 15 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merge agree with RGloucester and DDima Sayerslle (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Deliberating notability is questionable particularlydisproportionate lack of page on shelling in Ukraine.Wikidgood (talk) 00:04, 4 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of intent to move or Nominate for Rapid Deletion[edit]

Donetsk is an insurgent territory in Ukraine which is not recognized as either independent of Ukraine nor has it been annexed to the Russian Federaion. THe existence of this WIkipedia page is a plain and obvious piece of POV at best, if not to say outright propaganda. Wikidgood (talk) 22:52, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Er, whilst I too would like to merge this page, I think you are confusing the two different Donetsks. There is a Donetsk that is undisputedly part of Russia, not related to the Donetsk in Ukraine. The city in Russia is the subject of this article, not the city in Ukraine. RGloucester 22:56, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will look into it immediately you know the shelling in the news is of DOnetsk, Ukarine. I suspect there is some mixing upaccidentally on purpose. There may be a Donetsk Russia but last time I checked the shelling is in Ukraine. You may be right I will deal with it right away. Wikidgood (talk) 23:05, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nope nothing yet https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=Shelling+of+Donetsk%2C+Ukraine&go=Go Wikidgood (talk) 23:06, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This article isn't about the shelling in Donetsk (Ukraine) now. It is about the shelling in Donetsk (Russia) months ago. Please read the sources in the article. RGloucester 23:07, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the article. It opens with a statement of shelling in Ukraine. You seem too experienced to be plahying games. How do you account for the following statement in the text of the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=Shelling+of+Donetsk%2C+Ukraine&go=Go Wikidgood (talk) 23:10, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd actually read the article, it says that Russia said that shelling fell on Donetsk, Russia, and that that shelling came from Ukrainian territory. RGloucester 23:12, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is very misleading, anyone surfing in would think it was a concession to the separtists that Doetsk Ukraine had been annexed as was Crimea. It seems almost deliberately misleading, but following WP:GOODFAITH presumption what is your explanation for reverting the sequence correction? What kind of lede is that? The shelling of DOnetsk Ukraine is WP:Notable this incident is, as discussed above, "a fly out of an elephant". Clearly something needs to be done to fix the mess that the existence of this article creates in the minds of surfers who are going to think either that WP has been taken over by TASS or that the Federation has already recogized the insurgency...Wikidgood (talk) 23:25, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd actually format the article in accordance with Wikpedia style guidance, this pointless confusion could easily have been avoided. At any rate, mutual exchange of sarcasm aside, I consider this most recent edit to sufficently resolve this issue. resolved. Wikidgood (talk) 23:57, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Whether or not merged certain fixes are in order[edit]

It is pointless to have the box reading ASSAILANTS and then stating either the Ukraine Army or the Russian Army with no encyclopedic verifiable or WP:RS. IMHO it is just a waste of space and a waste of reader's time; people do not consult encyclopedias for vague guesses. Further, it is impossible to avoid POV if one of the alleged "assailants" is placed physically over the other. ALso, the term "assailant" is not a term generally used in reports or histories of war. Or prove me wrong with WP:RS I am awaiting a cogent reply. Oh, meanwhile, there is no WP article on the shelling of DOnetsk Ukraine which is literally ten or twenty times more notable. How odd. Wikidgood (talk) 23:38, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lmao, the edits[edit]

Since when is Donetsk part of russia? 109.251.234.36 (talk) 01:56, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

since when did the shelling from Ukraine stop? It wasn't just 2014. Cluster bombs continue to land for nearly a decade.
Your question was answered by referendum. My question remains unanswered. 2601:5CF:8000:6B60:E557:D891:D64F:888E (talk) 06:34, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
