plagiarism?[edit]

Her work consists of taking pictures of other people's work.

So ... Plagiarism?

It was a discussion of plagiarism that led me to this page, and I'm quite disappointed to see that no reference seems to be made to it. Philologick (talk) 03:40, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Her work fits into a movement in contemporary art called Appropriation. Some people have certainly viewed this as plagiarism, but it's a method of Postmodern Art that questions Modernist ideals related to originality. I don't think this debate would make that much sense to address on a Wikipedia page since it presents a judgment about an artist's work, unless it was put into a balanced section titled "Critical Reception" or something along those lines.
