Translation section is too POV

[edit]

Saying things are WD's "fault" seems too POV for a wiki article. Someone who knows the subject better than I should re-write to eliminate the bias.76.226.125.246 (talk) 18:14, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. It was just a matter of eliminating some unnecessary wording.--Martin IIIa (talk) 12:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

Copyrighted Character Names?

[edit]

In the Development section of the article, it is stated that localizer Working Designs was unable to use certain character names because Sega "owned the copyrights ... and would not release them". This seems unlikely to me, and I am unable to find any evidence of this anywhere. There are a lot of fansites that repeat the statement, but I can't find an interview with or a statement from President Victor Ireland or anyone at Working Designs or Sega that could have originated this idea. The source cited, a write-up on the fansite Shining Force Central, states this as fact but does not source the information itself and does not seem credible enough to stand on its own.

I think that it's possible that this story is being conflated with a documented dispute that did exist over the names that were to be used in Working Designs' localization of a different Sega Saturn game, Magic Knight Rayearth, but in that case it was due to Working Designs being asked to use the same names that were used in the English dub of the anime instead of Working Designs' own original names.

Victor Ireland is somewhat notorious for openly discussing the localization process of the games Working Designs published, but I still can't find anywhere on the Internet where he mentions any kind of a problem with the names in Shining Wisdom. Shining Lore (talk) 00:09, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
