Missing information

[edit]

When I look at this page, I find a lot of missing information, including: timeline and location of the shooting, eyewitness accounts of the event, death toll, identity of the shooter and motive. I am not able to find this information online. Can someone research this and complete the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.187.185.202 (talk) 21:00, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

At all previous Olympics the wiki page title has excluded the word Sport from the title and for the sake of consistency it should be removed. The change is already presenting the need for unnecessary editing. Drams707 (talk) 19:13, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 3 July 2024

[edit]

This is a request for the '– Qualification' article, which sends the edit request here when I click it - please fix @Bearas's duplication of the article Sport shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification (which at the time of the duplication was moved in draft space).

I am not sure what the solution actually is (other than removing the duplicate), I tried talking with Bearas on their talk page, but they never responded and now people are starting to edit the duplicate. This mess was caused by a (now blocked) sockpuppet account moving pages around, with the duplicate article retaining the logs for the page and the non-duplicate one retaining the page history - but clearly there shouldn't be 2 of the same page: Special:Diff/1231772927/1231798493 (diff between pages).

The duplicate that has now been edited also contains content that was added by the sockpuppet and has since been banreverted in the other article. – 2804:F14:809B:301:5C32:677E:9F1F:6F8E (talk) 19:51, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I have no idea what was going on at Sport shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification, but I've reverted the cut/paste move and turned Shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification into a redirect. User:CanonNi (talkcontribs) 01:26, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CanonNi: There was an ANI about it, still not super sure on the order of things (or why the logs are now in a different page).
Anyways, can you please also redirect the talk page?
edit: Also also, it wasn't the person you warned that did the cut/paste move. – 2804:F14:809B:301:5C32:677E:9F1F:6F8E (talk) 01:38, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm confused now... Anyways, I've reverted my first warning and warned the editor that made the c&p move. I don't think redirecting the talk is needed, as all of them redirect here. I think that fixed all the issues, so I'm marking this as  Done. User:CanonNi (talkcontribs) 01:43, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CanonNi: Talk:Sport shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Qualification exists though. Well still, thank you. – 2804:F14:809B:301:5C32:677E:9F1F:6F8E (talk) 01:47, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I"m not sure if redirecting that page is appropriate, as it contains discussions that don't seem to be copied from elsewhere. User:CanonNi (talkcontribs) 01:49, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@CanonNi: I see what happened - a bot literally just fixed the talk page redirect in between me asking you to do it and you responding... I guess that's where our confusion stems from 😅.
That seems to be all things fixed, thanks again. – 2804:F14:809B:301:5C32:677E:9F1F:6F8E (talk) 01:52, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, ok. No problem. User:CanonNi (talkcontribs) 01:54, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the consensus is that the word 'sport' is unnecessary, should it not be the reverse - 'sports shooting' redirects to shooting - it seems bizarre to have an article for one thing, and a qualification article for a different thing Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) Mpjmcevoybeta (talk) 12:29, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mpjmcevoybeta: That might be the blocked sock's fault? I don't know where to ask, but clearly the logs of the page are in the 'Shooting ..' one, even though the page history is in the 'Sports shooting ..' one - this diff at 'Sport ..' also says moved from 'Shooting ..' to draft, not from sport.
I've never edited in this area, so I'm limiting what I actually request (so I don't mess things up more) - but if you know what it should be and if the page really was at 'Shooting ..' before the sock, then there probably is somewhere where you could request for an admin to fix that. If it wasn't, well, then there's probably a different procedure for changing that.
This was originally from Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1159#824 Montmarte, there I asked and the admin @Graeme Bartlett reverted the move to draft space - maybe they can advise on what to do. – 2804:F14:809B:301:845F:7103:430F:122 (talk) 18:19, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well the qualification article can be moved again. So please come to a conclusion about the best title, and someone can move it. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading Title

[edit]

The current title “Shooting at the 2024 Summer Olympics” is misleading and could either mean the competition or a tragic event. “Competitive” or “Sport” Shooting would be more accurate. Joseph.vivian (talk) 23:00, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
