Fair use rationale for Image:Showcase4.JPG

[edit]

Image:Showcase4.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:42, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1965 Alley Award

[edit]

Can someone clarify what this means, please: "The volumes have received acclaim, including the 1965 Alley Award for Best Novel (an untitled story by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson in issue #55)."? The first part appears to be about the Showcase Presents umbrella-titled-volumes; but the latter presumably refers to #55 of the original series. So presumably that sentence be broken up and re-aligned..? ntnon (talk) 17:19, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unpublished stories

[edit]

I deleted the following section:

"Originally, issues 94-96 of Showcase were to feature introductory stories of Jack Kirby's Fourth World series, New Gods, Forever People and Mr. Miracle. However, DC decided to capitalize on Kirby's recent move to DC from Marvel, and launch the books as full series instead of using Showcase as the standard tryout.[citation needed] The last page of The New Gods vol. 1 has a large blank space towards the lower left hand of the page, which originally contained dialog advising the readers to watch for a regular series shortly, and to check out the next issue featuring the Forever People.[1]"

The refererence given is:

"The New Gods (DC, Oct./Nov. 1972)"

Here is the problem with the above paragraph. New Gods #1 does not have "a large blank space towards the lower left hand of the page" nor is it dated (Oct./Nov. 1972). The actual date is February-March 1971 as seen at the Grand Comics Database [1]. October-November 1972 is the date for New Gods #11 (the last issue) which contains a large house ad for Kamandi. Finally, Showcase was canceled with issue #93 (September 1970) [2] which is a full six months before New Gods #1. It's rather doubtful that DC would have sat on the Fourth World books for half a year if they were already done and ready for publication in Showcase.
