Promotional paid editing
[edit]I'm suspisious of the neutrality of this article. It was created by a paid editor working for an advertising agency, who has disclosed. The first source I checked, Business NC looks to be pure business advertising masquerading as a newspaper. I saw no evidence of an editorial board. The company itself is cited 15 times or more with named refs, and other refs look sketchy. i think this needs a serious cleanup to not be advertising. I have tagged it as advertising, which it plainly is.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 01:26, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
- Specific citations asserting the credibility of Business NC:
- Former Managing Editor of the News and Observer has a regular column
- Democracy Fund mentions it alongside other journalistic outlets in the lacking NC market
- Founder is recognized in UNC Journalism School’s Hall of Fame
- Cited as a credible business journalism outlet alongside other outlets
- Awarded as high-quality within the business journalism industry
- Interview on magazine’s role
- Another mention in business news
- WRAL Techwire article from a Journalism Professor at UNC Chapel Hill favorably cotes it
- It seems to be a credible business source. Toa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk)
- Also, a correction to a blatantly false statement: for one, I did not create this article, I wrote it, submitted it through AfC and it was approved. There is an ongoing discussion at COI noticeboard over this, because the account that approved it turned out to be running a fraudulent sock puppet account scheme and has been indefinitely blocked. Any and all critiques and improvements to this article are obviously welcomeToa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk) 00:48, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Removing Shurtape links
[edit]As said above and in the COI disclosure here, I work for Full Metal Chicken which has Shurtape as a client. I've gone ahead and removed one link to Shurtape - per COI guidelines, this should be okay since it's a minor change. I'll look at removing and/or replacing as many links as possible and replacing them with suitable sources. I won't change any content, just sources, to help alleviate the issue the tag notes. Several corrections
[edit]Hey there! It's been a while since this page has been updated and there have been some changes and updates that should be made to ensure accuracy. Full disclosure: I work for Full Metal Chicken and Shurtape Technologies is a client. Accordingly, I cannot make any major changes per WP:COI, so I will instead list the changes below:
- Infobox
- The Bloomberg article is outdated in a few areas. Wayne Helton retired and thus is no longer with the company.
- Jim Shuford is now the Chair of the Board and Stephen Shuford is now the Vice chairman.
- AP Shuford is Chairman Emiritus
- John Kahl is the CEO of Consumer & Craftsman Group
- Vuc Trivanovic is the CEO of Industrial Group
- Body
- The information listed about locations is outdated. The website text has not been updated, but there are now only 10 locations across the US, Mexico, Peru, UK, Germany, UAE, China, and Australia.
- ShurTape Brands is no longer the name of the subsidiary. It is now known as the Engineered Solutions Group, and ShurTape brand is beneath it.
- Shurtape Specialty Coating is now known as Shurtape Technologies Engineered Solutions
Since I have a COI here, I can't really directly do these edits myself, so it's up to other editors here to review them. Additionally, the changes to the company management are not publicly available as far as I know since this is a private company - although I have assurances the ones I gave above are correct. Any advise on the matter on how to correct it would be appreciated. Toa Nidhiki05 (Work) (talk) 19:03, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
