Source: "It was Thailand’s first power plant and first office of Siam Electricity Co., Ltd. which operated electricity generation and distribution."[1] "Many of those duties and responsibilities usually associated with municipal enterprise are in Bangkok undertaken by the Siam Electricity Company... They contract with the Government to water certain of the streets; they supply the whole of the city with electric light, own and operate one-half of the tramways... and, in addition, are responsible for the equipment and maintenance of a fire brigade."[2]
