I'm just about to translate the Sicilian article on this event. I'm also double checking a couple of references. Full article not too far away. Patience please. ρ¡ρρµ δ→θ∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 04:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Congress Poland?
[edit]Why is Congress Poland listed as one of the combatants of the conflict, supporting Sicily? It's not actually mentioned in the article, nor the French, Polish or Italian versions of the article and in any case it's highly unlikely that Congress Poland, as such, was involved in any conflict considering that it was a political non-entity, under complete Russian control.
The only partial justification is that Ludwik Mierosławski, a Pole (and a military commander during anti-Russian and anti-Prussian uprisings in Poland), was the chief-of-staff of the Sicilian army, but the participation of a volunteer from a given country is not equivalent to that country itself being involved. That is curious. I am aware that the Sicilian revolution of 1848 had quite an effect in Poland who had some interesting things happening at this time. But I am not aware of any outright support of Congress Poland itself. I wonder if anyone with Polish can do a search for us.Paolorausch (talk) 02:00, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- I've now removed Congress Poland from the list of belligerents. (I briefly added a "citation needed" tag, instead of outright removal, but decided that that was just stalling.) For the record, the edit that had added Congress Poland as one of the belligerents was [1]. Gephyra (talk) 14:04, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
