Hakim and other families

[edit]

Anna's sister Fanny married twice, firstly to a nephew of Charles Day Rose, Cecil Vivian Sloane-Stanley.[1] What is said about the Hakims [2], where Jacques Hakim is given as Giacomo, seems mostly OK (dates not guaranteed); as is what is there on Geni.com ([3], [4] etc.). Neither of which are RS.

Jacques/Giacomo was one of three brothers, the others being given as Adolphe and John. He had a banking business in Alexandria, sometimes given as "G. Hakim & Co." His father is given as Giuseppe. He married, it seems, Bertha Porges; who had a sister Emilie who married Ignaz Ephrussi of Vienna. Making Anna a second cousin of Charles Ephrussi, I believe - need to get out the copy of The Hare with Amber Eyes. The Porges connection is interesting, because Julius Porges was a player in South African diamonds.

Conclusions so far: Anna presumably born in Egypt. The family connections run back to Efraim Porges who was born in Prague and moved to Vienna. The network is of Jewish merchants and bankers. See http://www.porges.net/FamilyTreesBiographies/JonasSimonPorges.html. The Hakims are a bit more mysterious (maybe Italian Jews named Achim). Not straightforward to get into the article, though. [5] shows details for Adolphe, involvement with the Pinto banking family. [6] is about the other sister, Adrienne, married to the brother of Fritz Waerndorfer. There is a reference placing Adrienne with the Ephrussi connection. Charles Matthews (talk) 11:02, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
