North East

"8th member for the Reykjavík North constituency on 25 April 2009", not wrong but now 1st for the North east, since 2013. Comp.arch (talk) 00:15, 27 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Panama Papers's Case

[edit]

I think it need to be added about his part in reviewal from his property in tax heaven who form the Panama Papers: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35918846

It's also questionable if page of Finance Minister, Interior Minister and Head of Town Council of Reykjavík should also been edited for the same reason. Hafl (talk) 23:14, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The interview - "in advance of the Panama Papers leak"

[edit]

On April 3, an IP added that "Following an interview with The Guardian in advance of the Panama Papers leak .... ". This has subsequently been changed by another IP to read Swedish television station SVT. Is this the same interview, or are these separate interviews, one one the Guardian and one with SVT? As far as I know, the SVT interview was after news of the leak had broken. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 15:04, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There was a video clip on the Guardian home page, but it was the SVT interview. Maybe someone got confused. 173.228.123.194 (talk) 01:53, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He denies resigning

[edit]

says he has temporarily turned over the PM duties to the party vice-chairman.[1] 50.0.121.79 (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is some ambiguity between our statement in the intro "he will take temporary leave from his duties as Prime Minister, while not resigning from the office itself" and that of the section "Resignation as Prime Minister". This needs to be resolved. werldwayd (talk) 01:52, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the world press was announcing this morning (US time) that he had resigned, then later he seemed to walk it back. I just got home and haven't seen the latest. I guess there is or will be some coverage of the developments, which we should write up neutrally. 50.0.121.79 (talk) 03:18, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Following the release of the Panama Papers, he announced on 5 April 2016 that he would resign the office of Prime Minister." Come on, there's more to it than just that. He refused to resign until there was mass protest and the president didn't accept his proposal to clean house. JanderVK (talk) 13:49, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Here's more info on this imbecile PM: http://grapevine.is/mag/column-opinion/2015/08/24/so-whats-this-i-keep-hearing-about-rising-inequality-in-iceland/ he lowered taxes on himself and other wealthy residents of Iceland; and he moved his lawful domicile to an deserted/abandoned farm so he could run for parliament in that administrative district - here's an article in Icelandic about it: http://eyjan.pressan.is/frettir/2015/04/21/segir-forsaetisradherra-brjota-log-a-ad-skra-logheimil-thar-sem-hann-hefur-koddann-sinn/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.208.181.44 (talk) 23:46, 7 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This has been corrected. He called it to step aside. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.220.40.15 (talk) 23:50, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Call a spade a spade - he has resigned, he is gone ... unless and until he wins new elections

[edit]

I believe that it is our duty as custodians of the information that we offer the public to present it in such a manner that it is clear and unambiguous. So why then, do we still have the following:

  • "he took temporary leave of absence from the post"
  • "he announced on 5 April 2016 that he would step aside from the office of Prime Minister",

when what we should be saying is "ha resigned"? This is not about "he" — "he" can't decide to come back if he wants to; a new prime minsiter has been sworn in. End of story. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 15:26, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The "misinterpretation and lack of knowledge by many"

[edit]

This edit[2] is a NPOV violation. Additionally, the sources chosen do not accurately summarize the Sigmundur Davíð Panama Papers controversy. Snooganssnoogans (talk) 13:16, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That SDG resigned as PM due to the Panama Papers scandal belongs in lede
