GA Review[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

  • "Bloc Party commissioned Silent Alarm Remixed to show that remixes and dance music were relevant to them and to the rock landscape at large." IMO, "them" should be reworded to "their band".
  • "Before their fame, Okereke and lead guitarist Russell Lissack were regular visitors to Erol Alkan's Trash club in London and the early contact with the band led Alkan to rework Bloc Party's first single "She's Hearing Voices"." That's a doozy of a sentence, and it'd probably be best to split it into two.
  • "Whitey and Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner were hired based on their respective musical credentials." This sentence seems a bit out of place, and should probably be moved up into the previous paragraph.
  • "an aggregated rating of 62% is obtained based on 10 critical reviews." Borderline original research, and is it necessary? Does Wikipedia need to give aggregated ratings based on reviews we could find, even if it was every notable review? Metacritic didn't rate it, and possible solutions like labeling it as "based on Metacritic's system" in the text are still questionable. Why not just leave it at "Media response to Silent Alarm Remixed was mixed, but generally positive."? An aggregated score isn't necessary.
    • Yeah, OK. I was just trying to be a bit smart and create something unique. I'm sure WP doesn't frown on created statistics that are easily verifiable especially if the method is clearly explained. I've seen it in cricket stats. But, I left it out anyway. • "the joint-lowest rating that it received from notable publications" Same as above; It's not necessary to state that this was the lowest score given to the album based on ten reviews.
    • You're right. Cannot be completely sure it was THE lowest. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Pitchfork Media's Nitsuh Adebe", "Heather Phares of Allmusic", can be just "Adebe" and "Phares" because they've already been mentioned as reviewers of the album.
    • My understanding is that it has be done since it's a new section. So, say a reader clicks on "Lyrics..." without reading other stuff and reads Adebe said this, they'd go "Who the hell is Adebe?". It came up in the Silent Alarm FAC.
  • "more stripped back than Bloc Party's version" What exactly does this mean? Stripped back could mean anything from "quiet acoustic reworking" to "rawer, more lo-fi, louder" to "sparse, dub-like dance track". Be more specific.
  • "more skeletal than the original" same as above
    • Removed one and changed the other. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "is a dub version of the blueprint and over twice its length." Weird wording; Why not just "is a dub version over twice the length of the original [track]."?
  • "Solo act Kieran Hebden, under the alias of Four Tet" should be "Solo act Kieran Hebden, under his Four Tet alias", to indicate that this was not a one-off moniker, which does happen with remixes.
  • Why don't all of the track listings use the template? What are the running times on the music video bonus disc?
    • Bonus tracks weren't part of the the main release and my understanding is that music videos don't need times like tracks which are measured by CD lasers etc.. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Irish and Japanese Albums Chart can be taken out of the chart section if the album didn't chart there.
    • I usually add the major markets it was released in under a label even if it didn't chart, because at the end of the day time and money went into a specific release with no results and this has to be shown for complete information. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Silent Alarm (Remixed) lyrics" Why is Remixed in parentheses?
    • It's Silent Alarm's lyrics which are essentially the same as the Remixed but maybe cut-up, looped, placed somewhere else etc. Saying SAR lyrics would insinuate that lyrics were specifically written for the album and also give a false description of the link. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The one biggest issue is the aggregated rating. The rest were relatively minor prose fixes, which should be fairly simple. --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 05:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All done/replied I think. Thanks for taking the time. Rafablu88 10:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, looks good. I've gone ahead and promoted it. Good work! --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 15:38, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great job on your behalf. Thanks. Rafablu88 15:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
