Some reverts, some comments[edit]

1) I reinserted the old German place names. They aren't official names anymore, but they describe a place where the border forest was located, which is important for the history of the region.

2) I removed the Hussite Wars. As far as I know the forest was long gone at that time, also in Upper Silesia. If not, provide a source which states that the forest still existed at that time. If he doesn't exist today, who cleared this forest in Upper Silesia and when?

3) I also removed the fact that the forest protected the area of Opole from raids of the Moravian and Czech tribes from the lead. It's true, but the forest protected a much bigger area, Opole wasn't special.

4) The lead states that the forest did not prevent the Hussites from invading Silesia in 1420, but the next paragraph says the border forest was blocking movements from the west. The Hussites came from the south. Moreover, the border forest is documented in places without danger from the west.

5) It's Lower Silesian heathland, not heartland. There was no border forest in the Lower Silesian heartland. The entire concept wouldn't make sense anymore with a border forest in the heartland.

6) I completely reverted the chapter "Impact of German Ostsiedlung". This article is about a border forest, not about the situation in the inner parts of Silesia. Karasek (talk) 06:53, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree with certain deletion. Context is important, and the existance of settelements before German encroachment notable, neglect of previous settelements has been pointed out in several scholary works as major flaw for example in German historiography. We shouldn't repeat such mistakes.--Molobo (talk) 23:15, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
