Tucker's comment

[edit]

I just deleted the comment about how Tucker overheard Simmons and Grif talking and believes that they are in love, because it is not true. He just hears two red team members talking, but doesn't specifically state who, so it's not accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.125.172.252 (talkcontribs)

This is being discussed at Talk:Grif#Recent Changes. Let's keep all discussion there to avoid fragmented comments. — TKD::Talk 00:56, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship with teammates

[edit]

This article stated that Grif offered his help to Simmons, who seemd reluctant to take it. That, however, is untrue. It is Simmons who asks Grif for help. He becomes angry at Grif because he's keeps running back and forth between the portal in the base and not really paying attention. Simmons tells him to cut it out because he needs his help. I just thought that this needed clarification. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.10.112.198 (talkcontribs)

That's not what that section refers to at all. It refers to when Simmons attacked the Red Base and Grif persuaded him not to. Initially Simmons refused, but eventually caved in. I'm sorry, I should have made that clearer. Dac 07:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I watched Episode 65, and I see what you mean. But, Grif doesn't offer Simmons help, he just tries to convince him to come back to the base, since he is so tired of Donut. That is what Simmons is reluctant about. In fact, it is Simmons who asks Grif if he'll help him clean his armor, to which Grif respondes he'll promise to do it and then just get Donut to do it later. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.10.99.203 (talkcontribs)

It basically amounts to the same thing. Grif trying to get Simmons back is basically the same thing as offering him help. Simmons is reluctant initially, but then accepts by asking about the armour cleaning. That's what it all comes down to. Dac 21:08, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose that you could argue that trying to get Simmons to come back was like helping him, but I went ahead and changed it to give the article clarity. But, Simmons is the one who asks for help, like with the armor and in the base. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.10.99.203 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I'm satisfied with the current wording. It's good. Dac 04:42, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Superfluous articles

[edit]

Is it absolutely necessary for each character to get these insanely long articles? They are all very repetitive, giving references to the same story 3-5 times each. I'd suggest that they all be merged with the main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JesseZinVT (talkcontribs)

The plot summaries are long and could probably be made more context-relevant. In this case, it's a bit of a difficult balance to strike because there are several main characters about whom there's a decent amount of out-of-universe information that can (theoretically) be sourced, and a straight merge might leave an article that's too long (which is why they were split in the first place). I think that some character articles were split a bit hastily or prematurely, but I'm not sure that re-merging them is the answer. It'd be better to make the flow better, and tie plot details back to major themes where we can (and where we have sources). Perhaps it'd be better to merge plot/characteristics, organize by season, and show how plot and the development of character personality tie together. Done properly, I think that this would reduce repetitiveness. Sound good? — TKD::Talk 01:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Simmons-Sarge Relationship

[edit]

The relationship between Simmons and Sarge was formed because of Grif's relationship with Sarge, as was stated by Burnie Burns in the Season 4 Commentarry. "[The relationship betweeen Simmons and Sarge] was only an off-shoot of the relationship between Grif and Sagge. Simmons is really only the second in comand because Sarge hates Grif. We didn't sit down to write it up and say 'We gotta have a character that's Sarge's right-hand man'. It just sort of evolved out of this guy which he hates, which is Grif." So, what I put into the aticle that keeps being deleted is correct.
