Simran (actress)Simran Bagga — since the issue of a requested move was brought up on Simran(sanskrit word), it occurred to me that even if this actress is sometimes known as Simran, she has also been credited as Simran Bagga. It makes sense to have her article at Simran Bagga and not here with the parentheses and the actress disambiguator. Green Giant (talk) 01:31, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Simran-3.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Simran-3.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Semi-protected edit request on 1 August 2018[edit]

Hi Wikipedia, I was interested in Editing..I did mistakes early...by providing some wrong statements without any references and real news...it was all corrected by other editors themselves...and I was blocked once...now directly editing with my ID not the past account.. but now my true way of editing when I began to edit article Simran Bagga... I found some of the mistakes in that article (almost wrong informations in Each paragraphs especially without any references...I removed them...but some Editors Like Ravensfire has not even considered my words..and undone my editing by mentioning me as "Rv sock of blocked editor GOOD morning" as his side's truth...but am like now truly wants to be a good editor...but my way of truthness is removing or undoing by Ravensfire on his personal Interest and Fan Madness over Simran Bagga.also in her List of awards and nominations received by Simran Bagga,Fake nominations are provided without any references...also..others awards include two for her but mentioned 5 in the above column...which were the examples I have corrected but it was all removed by Ravensfire and mentioned me as a blocked one simply...what injustice is this ?????? now Dlohcierekim protected the page....Why can't he check what I did was justice or not..but suddenly undone what I have made the true informations.... he/she makes me again again again as a infected person (blocked one) but I was true..I am true...from few days back..I agree that I made mistakes ...but it was true way of editing... please consider me...& take compulsory action against Ravensfire. 117.230.183.213 (talk) 15:54, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Using your IP address to edit while your account is blocked is block evasion, not honesty. Your block applies to you, not the account you were using to edit. If you would like to continue editing Wikipedia, you need to appeal your block, not find ways to edit around it. Continuing to edit under an IP address will just get that blocked as well, and make it that much more difficult for you to ever be able to return to editing on Wikipedia. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 16:31, 1 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Simran (actress)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Simran (actress)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Simran BaggaSimran (actress) – Per WP:COMMONNAME. An RM should have been requested, not a technical move request which gained no consensus. Mikehawk10's reasoning "Typically we name people by their first and last names, rather than their first and their occupation" was absurd and ignoring the common name rule. Perhaps he hasn't heard of mononymous people such as Madonna or Adele. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:37, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • There was a RM back in 2010 to move to this title so unless something has changed reverted back to that title was correct. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:46, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • That move was uncontested, so it's not really that relevant. YttriumShrew (talk) 21:48, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nomination. The Simran Bagga article has 79 inline cites, all of which appear to reference her as "Simran", rather than as "Simran Bagga". The companion article is Simran filmography, not "Simran Bagga filmography". She is listed as "Simran" at IMDb and as "Simran (actress)" at Bharatpedia copy of Wikipedia. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 22:33, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note that WP:SHORTFORM gives "Brandy Norwood (per WP:NATURALDIS), but Brandy discography" but it also gives "Usher (musician), but Usher discography" so its possible natural disambiguation may be used for the person even if not for the discography because it isn't needed. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:42, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per COMMONNAME and WP:STAGENAME. The subject is known and credited mononymously, so using paranthetical disambiguation is perfectly valid. -- Ab207 (talk) 16:31, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The natural title for a well-known person is their name, not their line of work and their first name. Especially seeing as Simran is a page about the name, the natural way to disambiguate the individual is by using her full name, not by listing her occupation. — Mikehawk10 (talk) 20:14, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • There's no compulsion to use natural disambiguation, especially overriding the COMMONNAME. Occupation can be used as a form of disambigation per WP:NCPDAB. -- Ab207 (talk) 20:21, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • oppose per Mikehawk10. —usernamekiran • sign the guestbook(talk) 19:49, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support All listed sources refer to her as "Simran", so it would be hard for me to oppose this. YttriumShrew (talk) 21:48, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Since it seems this is overwhelmingly how she is referred to in RS, thus satisfying the WP:CRITERIA of recognizability and naturalness. As Ab207 says, we're not compelled to use natural disambiguation in a case like this - we need to consider the trade-offs on a case by case basis. Colin M (talk) 19:49, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
