Infobox - revenue

[edit]

According to page 84 (Income Statements) of Singapore Telecommunications' latest audited annual report (Annual Report 2004/2005) [1], the operating revenue for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2005 was listed as "12,617.0 in S$ Mil".

The syntax descriptions in [Template talk:Infobox Company/Syntax Descriptions] state that for revenue, "the business organization's latest year for which audited annual revenue data is available" should be used. I can't seem to find the press release you mentioned, since neither was it mentioned in the article, nor were references provided.

Whoops! I just discovered that I mistook "Billion" for "Million" in the financial reports!--Huaiwei 06:03, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Postal services

[edit]

There seems to be two conflicting information on whether postal services are provided, one in the lead in, the other in the infobox. Could someone clarify this? =Travisyoung= 03:08, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Claim that SingTel is Asia's largest telecommunications company outside of PRC

[edit]

Hi,

I was wondering if the claim that SingTel is Asia's largest telecommunications company outside of PRC in terms of mobile subscriptions is stretching the limits of truth. Even though SingTel considers itself the largest based on total subscriptions of 71 million, we must remember to take the neutral point of view when editing; this is a central tenet of Wikipedia.

In fact, it has been mentioned in Talk:List of mobile network operators#World largest table: Number of subscribers that "it is the number of proportionate subscribers, a measure more widely used in the industry to measure true size [sic]".

I agree with the statement above. It makes no sense if every company were to include the number of subscribers in the affliate/overseas entites in which they have stakes in; the total number of subscribers in the world would then be inflated and consists of overlaps.

=Travisyoung= 07:24, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was the same person who made that comment on proportionate subsribers, btw.--Huaiwei 07:32, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm I know, but given your tendency to think I am being rude to you by mentioning your name, I chose not to. So what do you think about the claim? =Travisyoung= 08:16, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hah! Nice sense of humour. The "claim" was made in Singtel's pages, and although you see it as being "biased", may i just point out that it can be similarly seen as fact. For example, Singtel says it is "Asia's largest multi-market mobile operator, serving more than 71 million customers in seven markets", which is theoratically not incorrect given the fact that the Chinese operators are still single-market ones. I wont exactly consider this as an over-the-top "claim".--Huaiwei 08:24, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SingTel's Ayer Rajah Telecommunications Complex, along Road.

[edit]

There seems to be a problem with the caption of this picture.. What road is it? I'm not sure either, So I cant add it in.GavinTing 14:19, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I felt like I was reading a SingTel ad flyer, not a wikipedia article. Please rewrite so it reads as a neutral position. Thanks! --Cg-realms 14:06, 17 April 2007 (EST)

I agree. It reads like your typical PR spiel. Someone has been whitewashing a lot of information.

Singtel cooperation with Chinese communist government

[edit]

It is important to mention cooperation (incl. spying) with the Chinese from People's Republic of China. Singtel is run by Chinese from Singapore and they have close links with the communist Chinese through Huawei.

'Security agencies will closely examine the bid placed by Singtel Optus, which is believed to have asked Chinese firm Huawei Technologies to help build its network, The Australian newspaper reported.

Huawei was the subject of a US congressional investigation on national security, after concerns were raised about the company's links to the Chinese military and intelligence apparatus, the report said.'

I think you should get your facts right before making such absurd and racist generalizations. Just because Singapore has a large Chinese population does not mean that they are related to communists. That's like saying that anyone with Russian blood, regardless of their family background and their location, are communists. Historically speaking, most of the Chinese living in Singapore today are descendants of those who have escaped China because they were politically linked to the Kuomingtang, a democratic party in China. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.21.21.38 (talk) 07:02, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wanna suggest, that the mentioned article will be merged into the main Singtel one because there is little to almost nothing information/additional rather than a duplicate link to Singtel and the company logo again. --Never stop exploring (talk) 02:38, 30 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Singtel TV

[edit]

This article is extremely heavy on its Singtel TV (formerly mio TV) history with hardly any history about the company as a whole with points like "On 1 July 2009, SingTel launched Football Frenzy, bringing local fans a fully immersive social football experience for its mio TV, broadband and mobile phone networks".

It reads like an advertisement.

Perhaps all the Singtel TV/mio TV history can be moved to the Singtel TV page instead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Melbourneexpert (talkcontribs) 06:22, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Termination of Israeli billing-software

[edit]

SingTel dropped Amdocs, the worlds most widespread phonebill software company. Deutche Telekom (T-Mobile) also dropped Amdocs, replacing it with a system from Ericsson. That would be notable, certainly? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.3.43.161 (talk) 22:00, 3 October 2018 (UTC) An edit was made removing mention of Amdocs and questioning the relevence of the matter of the billing-software to the article; If One may, the answer to the rhetorical question is quite obvious in the context of the "Trump-Kim Summit" (or chronological context with the "real fake Singtel phonebill" the same week); SingTel replaced it`s provider of billing-software from Israeli multinational company Amdocs to Swedish multinational company Ericsson. The editor must have understood that telephone companies cannot do business without telephone bills, thus the question must have been rhetorical, otherwise malicious.126.3.46.186 (talk) 17:02, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
