Siphonophora (genus)Siphonophora – This page is a senior synonym and should have the name without a qualifier. YorkshireExpat (talk) 08:45, 17 April 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. 🐶 EpicPupper (he/him | talk) 08:50, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Comment, @YorkshireExpat:; the cnidarian order Siphonophora was published 8 years before the millipede genus. While priority doesn't apply to ranks above family anyway, but the millipede genus isn't senior. Is there another genus named Siphonophora to be accounted for? At the moment, most incoming links to Siphonophora intend the cnidarian order, but I've just revised {{Siphonophorae-stub}}, which was producing many of the links. Waiting to see what happens to incoming links once the ones through the stub template resolve, but I'm thinking a dab page at Siphonophora may be the best outcome for that title (whether (genus) is the best dab term for the millipede is another issue). @Plantdrew I did wonder why the name wasn't preoccupied. The millipede should at least have a hatnote to the cnidarians, and yes, shouldn't be (genus) at the end. YorkshireExpat (talk) 07:50, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose all 14 of the current article-space incoming links to Siphonophora intend the cnidarian order. And although taxonomy databases such as WoRMS and ITIS use the spelling Siphonophorae for the cnidarians, many recent scientific articles on the cnidarians use the Siphonophora spelling. I think a disambiguation page for Siphonophora is warranted, but the millipede genus is not the primary topic of the term. Plantdrew (talk)
