Two Different People[edit]

Sir Allan Maclean of Brolas (the 22nd chief of the Clan Maclean) is not General Sir Allan Maclean of Torloisk.

The records are very confusing because they both served in many of the same places, however they are two different men. Allan of Torloisk became a general while Allan of Brolas only became a Lieutenant-Colonel. They also both served with the Scotch Brigade in Holland until it was disbanded, and they both served in British America during the Seven Years War. Adding to the confusion, the London Gazette is missing promotions for Allan of Brolas.
