History[edit]

It would be useful to include the history of the square. Was it formed after the WWII bombing, or did it exist beforehand? When and why was it named after Hawkins? Are there historic buildings in or around the square? I don't know Plymouth well enough, and don't have the sources, to fill in the gaps myself. Ghmyrtle (talk) 11:34, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ghmyrtle The square is next to the Merchants house [1] one of the older buildings in Plymouth and it was named after Hawkins in the 1980s. There is a plaque telling people about the connection with Hawkins, merchants there. [2]. Govvy (talk) 12:07, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am surprised there are no articles for The merchant's house or Kitty O'Hanlons pub, Kitty is the oldest pub in Plymouth and has a lot of history. Govvy (talk) 12:37, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps there just aren't any active editors covering Plymouth. The History of Plymouth article has only had 14 edits in the last year. Ghmyrtle (talk) 14:37, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
