Merge of new article Sivapalan Murugesu into Murugesu Sivapalan

[edit]

I highly urge that new article Sivapalan Murugesu be merged into the existing Wikipedia article (created 2015) for the individual Murugesu Sivapalan ASAP. While I am unsure of the intentions of the creation of the new article, it does contain some additional good content that may be beneficial to merge. @WOW2020: Can you give some background as to why you created this new article when one already exists, and would you be willing to assist with the merge? We would appreciate your help! Thanks, -- Missionedit (talkcontribs) 03:53, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reminding. I will merge the new article Sivapalan Murugesu to the existing article Murugesu Sivapalan. WOW2020 (talk) 15:18, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • There should definitely be only one article, but I am not sure there is much to merge from that one to the older one. The only thing that is really new is the "research achievements" section division of three phases. But I see no independent sources for that part: most of it is either primary (citing the subject’s research papers), a former PhD student, notices in scientific societies (which are often written by the subject), etc. So it is a lot of original research, I think.
There is also the picture, which is nicer, but appears to be a copyright violation.
It also seems to me that "Murugesu Sivapalan" is the form used predominantly in English sources to refer to that person, and should therefore be the title of the article. "Sivapalan Murugesu" might still be a useful redirect, assuming Tamil names follow the Eastern name order (I do not know if that is the case). This has been open for months. I doubt much more input is coming or needed. I have redirected. Whpq (talk) 11:18, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
