CFSK didn't go on the air until 1987. CKND, also owned by CanWest, originally produced the show. The show was even mentioned as a CKND production on the station's 30th anniversary special.
- The thing is, the Lumby family are natives of Saskatchewan, not Manitoba. I read on the Canadian Communications Foundation's Broadcasting History website that they have a country home on an island in a lake in Saskatchewan, which is where Size Small Island was produced. -- Denelson83 19:20, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
That makes sense. However, at least the original Size Small was produced at CKND studios, as mention through Global Winnipeg's 30th anniversary website and TV special. STV did not begin broadcasting until 1987, which is why CKND should have produced this show during the era as discussed.
- Gotcha.
- Man, this television show reminds me of my childhood to the max! I really wish I could see it again... -- Denelson83 08:19, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Changes
[edit]Since IPs sometimes get edits automatically reverted, I made two key changes to the article: first, the first broadcast on STV Saskatchewan in 1987 was not Size Small. A new network would not debut with something like that. Lumby hosted a 30-minute special to introduce the network, which then continued with prime time programming (I believe it was a movie, but I cannot locate a TV listing from 1987 to confirm title). I still think it's worth mentioning the special here as it indicates that Lumby and Size Small were considered major properties by STV if she was given the job of introducing the stations. Second, someone added a rather general, unsourced statement saying Size Small isn't airing anywhere in 2012; such a statement would need a source to indicate that no broadcaster on the planet is currently showing it. How do we know some obscure station in the Middle East isn't showing bootleg tapes of the thing? (I'm not being completely facetious here - iconic series Stampede Wrestling had this happen). If there's a source - say an interview with one of the Lumbys - confirming no broadcasts, then please add it. 70.72.211.35 (talk) 13:38, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
