Sally Hall editing this page[edit]

Skip Hall's wife Sally Hall is editing this page to alter the tone and content of the entry. Sally Wikipedia is not intended to be a press release for Skip, come on this is supposed to be serious stuff, please knock it offHistoryFightFan (talk) 17:25, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A forum of internet bullies is not proof, no matter how many times they post it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CurtHarmon (talkcontribs) 20:02, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CurtHarmon what the HELL are you talking about? Other wikipedians forgive my coarse language but unclear communication is a personal dislike of mine. Do you mean "internet bullies" as in the people who researched Skip's claims about being in The Nam and the basis for that character in Predator? If he is an MMA fighter and meth lab destruction specialist as his/your site claims then I imagine he must be immune to minor emotional pain which cripples the rest of us so easily. Exactly who is being "bullied" here?HistoryFightFan (talk) 12:04, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Completely Unsourced[edit]

This entire entry lacks sources, minus the links providing information regarding his fraud. If it is not corrected, I see no reason for this entry to exist at all, as fraud is neither newsworthy nor historically relevant, especially in the case where the fraud is attention-seeking in nature. While I find the motivation for this entry's creation suspect given his career of media-desperate moves, I am willing to concede that it may be considered pop culture, and thus should be flagged for needing credible citation. 70.62.184.122 (talk) 21:50, 31 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What about the NBCSports source? Skip has also been featured on MMA Junkie and other media outlets that were duped. My point is, he did become somewhat notable BUT his entire professional life has been a fraud, so that fraud should be noted. This is still unfolding so there will be more written about it in the future I am sure. Let us work on the article and make it better OR better yet, help us with it. Unsourced claims of achievements removed[edit]

As per the complete debunking of Skip's claims by professional soldiers.com and the complete lack of proof for his "record setting" achievements as a strength athlete or work as a bodyguard I have removed everything still unproven from his biography leaving a relatively sparse entry. Perhaps the tone of the article should shift to reflect Skip's successful attempts to deceive media outlets? HistoryFightFan (talk) 19:41, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Doing simple Google searches, I'm already easily finding sources for lots of the info you deleted. I'm at work and don't have time at the moment to format a bunch of refs right now, but maybe you can add some in. In general, it's a much more constructive practice to try to find references for things first, rather than just deleting information, even though it seems to be true. -- Fyrefly (talk) 21:12, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings fellow wikipedian your feedback is appreciated. I thought it would be useful to compile a list of the claims deleted and then we can insert them in one by one as/if necessary once reputable sources are located. Claims: "Skip was an recordholding powerlifter for the WABDL in Bench Press and Deadlift - all after the age of 50." (I find only sources about skip being a fraud for this). "Skip competed in boxing" = he has no amateur or professional record under his real or assumed name. There is another fighter "jess willard" but he was active in the early 20th century and died. Participating in full contact karate is not notable in and of itself AFAIK. Skip originally promoted himself as a BJJ black belt (not true) and going to some seminars with Conan (convicted X dealer) and others is also not notable? Skip is not associated with Gracie Jiu Jitsu other than through lying about ranks in that style. He did judge some UFC fights we could put that back in, although his claim about being invited by Zuffa makes little sense as either the AC appoints judges OR if there is no AC then Zuffa must "invite" all judges by default, IE ask them.

Claims about Skip's invented martial arts etc. are included along with references to his DEBUNKED military experience, unless of course he is also teaching typing?? So I vote either not notable/unreliable. Others should voice their opinion here.

"Mr. Hall is a special tactics instructor for international force protection contractors, NRA and FBI firearms instruction, close combat techniques and Professional Rescuer skills using his experience from the military, as a currently employed DoD Contractor in the middle east, NRA Instructor, American Red Cross Instructor ... Skip Hall is a personal bodyguard and executive protection agent and trainer for high risk, high visibility clients and contracts."

all of the above has been legitimately called into doubt IIRCHistoryFightFan (talk) 22:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
