Subaru Commercial Parody

Topic of Deletion

(Continued from Edit Summary) Furthermore, the previous "snuggie" article had something to do with being an alternate name for a wedgie... I bet a lot more random people picked out on the street would say that a snuggie is a cult-like monk's outfit/blanket versus a nickname for wedgie. There could be a link to the wedgie article if someone is compelled add it but I consider this page a better use than what it was. User:SoccrFwd13

Reliable sources are required to establish notability. For example, if the Wall Street Journal did an article about this product, it would make it notable. Multiple issues template

I don't think that this article has any of the problems listed in the ArticleIssues template. Two references is plenty for a stub, it doesn't read like an advertisement any more than any other product-related article, and not much more can be said about a piece of fabric sold on TV for $19.99. It appears to be traced/AutoRotoscoped from a screenshot of a Youtube video of the Snuggie commercial. We could use an actual screenshot from the video under fair use, but free images are preferable and Youtube/getsnuggie.com videos are low-resolution and contain logos and text. The best option would be to get someone with good pictures to release them under a free license. However, I haven't been able to find any high-resolution, acceptable pictures. Title

What are some opinions on the article title? Perhaps the slanket came first but the product is far better known as snuggie thanks to the commercials. WP:NAME tells us to use the most common name --Rtphokie (talk) 14:18, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

• There seem to be numerous trade names for this product and the article was previously not NPOV in that it gave undue preference to just one of them. We need some international perspective too - the Slanket seems to have more presence in the UK (I'm ordering one as it's cold here). And it may be that there's a clothing article into which this should be merged as it's quite similar to a cloak or gown. I'm content with Slanket for now, given that we have a redirect for Snuggie and Snuggies get plenty of mentions in the article. Colonel Warden (talk) 22:42, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

• I am continuing to expand the article from numerous sources. I find the Kansas City Star referring to Slanket and Snuggie together as "sleeved blankets". This phrase seems best in that it is clear and neutral. It also follows the guidance of WP:NEO that it is best to "use a title that is a descriptive phrase in plain English". Also, MOS:TM states, "Don't expect readers to know, based on trademarks or brand names, what item is being discussed". Not having been exposed to the TV advertising, I had not heard of either Slanket nor Snuggie before yesterday. The term "sleeved blanket" should be fairly clear to any English speaker immediately so we should prefer it for clarity. Colonel Warden (talk) 09:24, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
• I have split the article. Much of the content on this article was exclusive to the Snuggie, and much of the Snuggie-exclusive information has already been removed. • • Splitting this article is overkill in my opinion. This isn't a matter of a complicated item with a such a rich history that a worldwide perspective cant be handled in a single article. It's a blanket with sleeves in the US and a blanket with sleeves in the UK. Sleeved blanket sounds generic enough to cover all versions (commercial or otherwise) worldwide and any manufacturer specific names could be sufficiently covered in a section of that article.--Rtphokie (talk) 13:54, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
