Fair use rationale for Image:Smee boat.gif

[edit]

Image:Smee boat.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Requested move

The result of the proposal was move Smee (Peter Pan character) to Smee, per the discussion below. The disambiguation page does not appear to be necessary, so I have overwritten it. Dekimasuよ! 03:40, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there's any need for the disambiguation page currently at Smee. The other three items there consist of 1) a nonstandard spelling, 2) a typo, and 3) the definition for a nonsense word (or to be generous: neologism). The bottom line is that there are no other subjects on Wikipedia competing for the title "Smee", so no disambiguation page is needed. This article can be moved back to that name (which is where it was until recently). - JasonAQuest (talk) 22:16, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. None of the other claimed meanings seem to be encyclopedic. In fact at the risk of not assuming good faith, the account which created the disambig is called User:Test3 and claims to give their password on their user page. I wonder could the test be to see how long it takes us to remove the material they have posted? Andrewa (talk) 06:02, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No, the cruft was already on Smee when User:Test3 moved the article to where it is now, then copied the cruft to the new disambig page. Test3's edits seem to have been in good faith, just not fully understanding WP naming standards. - JasonAQuest (talk) 06:29, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so I see! Still not entirely comfortable about the password claim, or the disambig contents. The smee cat material could arguably go to Wiktionary if they want it, along with the external link to the Project Gutenberg of Australia etext which we've lost along the way. But it doesn't belong here. No change of vote. Andrewa (talk) 09:17, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
