Draftify

The guidelines say that franchise article should not been created until three films exists. (Only one feature film and a short exist so far.) The second feature film hasn't even been released yet but this franchise article was created anyway. According to the guidelines this article should not have been moved out of draftspace yet.

@Erik WP:FILMSERIES has been blatantly ignored. The second film isn't even out yet, let alone the third as the guidelines recommend, but another franchise article has been created prematurely. I'm tagging you specifically because you seemed surprised when I complained last time this happened, but this wasn't new. The guideline WP:FILMSERIES was written years ago but since it was created it doesn't seem to have been enforced or properly communicated to the editors that create or approve DRAFT articles, so it is being persistently ignored. -- 109.79.160.15 (talk) 20:25, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My point is that _this keeps happening_ (see also 28 Days Later (film series) only 2 films released so far, also Knives Out (film series) only 2 of 3 films released, etc). Something more than individual reports is needed but I don't know how a longer term solution or more consistent application of the existing guidelines could reasonably be achieved. -- 109.79.160.15 (talk) 22:19, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The WP:FILMSERIES guidelines says "encompasses at least three films" and meanwhile WP:NFF says a film should not just merely be vaguely "in production" it should actually "have commenced principal photography" to be considered noteworthy. These film franchise articles are persistently premature. They do not seem to have the potential to grow into healthy good quality articles. Erik seemed surprised when I complained about this recently but but that was in a different case, Horizon: An American Saga which at least has a better than average chance of maybe turning into a decent article eventually.
If a guideline as seemingly simple as WP:FILMSERIES is not applied or frequently ignored or exceptions continually made I think that points to an underlying problem, and I'm trying to make it clearer to Erik that the people approving Draft articles don't seem to be familiar with the WP:MOSFILM guidelines, because maybe he might know the right way to communicate that to the right people so they don't keep prematurely approving these articles. -- 109.79.160.15 (talk) 23:59, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
