Question[edit]

http://www.worldsnooker.com/staticFiles/60/72/0,,13165~160352,00.pdf Some old names in there and not entirely sure how right they are, but it’s the OFFICIAL world snooker ranking list, !!

Neal Foulds, I’m not too surprised to see in there, nor Tony Knowles as he plays in the World Championship qualifiers, but Griffiths, Virgo, Willie Thorne? ? ?Etc etc

Anyone with any details as to how correct these names are and their ranking? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.254.1 (talk) 12:08, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This list only contain players, who are professional in the currect season and have rankings. Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 14:00, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The link however is to World Snooker's official ranking list and includes 144 players, including the ones mentioned, thus surely that is the list that should appear here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.207.70.7 (talk) 21:57, 14 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what you mean. The link to the talk page is the Entry Pack for the first 4 PTC events. The players, who didn't qualify for this season will be removed from the official list after the first PTC, thus no need to add these names to the article. At the very end of the file it lists "the world Snooker Rankings for 2011/12 on it, it list Neil Foulds amongst many many other players? 157.203.254.2 (talk) 20:16, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The list goes upto 144 and includes, T Griffiths, R Reardon etc amongst many names which are very much on the pro circuit, so I don;t understand what the differences are between the two lists and why World Snooker's own list isn;t the difinitive one? 157.203.254.2 (talk) 20:18, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well the difference is that this lists only show players, who are professional this season. The article uses this source, and the players who didn't quality for this season were removed from the list. As you can see at the top of the page: "The professional world rankings for all the professional snooker players who qualified for the 2011/2012 season are listed below." By the way the rankings list in the entry pack is only used to determine the seedings for the first PTC event. Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 20:26, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to have it now, all those players ranked after about 88, are I presume members of the WPBSA and thus have a rank within that system, but haven't or rather aren't actually playing matches? As pro's. Which however is why players like Tony Knowles often play in the qualifiers for the World Snooker champiopnship as they WPBSA members and have a right to? it's just odd that they have official world rankings and yet aren't included on this list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.203.254.2 (talk) 21:40, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well this can be the solution, they are WPBSA members, but not on the Main Tour and only can play at the World Championship and they have to play preliminary qualifying matches. Armbrust Talk to me Contribs 21:50, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
