Merge proposal

I am proposing the merger of SoftBank Corp. into SoftBank Group Corp.. The reason for this is because the information of the SoftBank Corp. article (which is a telecom subsidiary of the Group Corp.) can easily be put into the Group article. To easily understand my points I will refer to SoftBank Corp. as is, and SoftBank Group Corp. as simply Group.

  • In this case, both articles are notably shorter in size than normal for a multinational corporation article on Wikipedia.
  • There isn't too much info to differentiate the two entities as different articles, also hence how the articles are somewhat short.
  • A Google search of 'SoftBank' will show up the SoftBank Corp. wiki article on the first page, but not the Group article.
  • Their recent high-profile purchase of ARM is also written on the Timeline section on SoftBank Corp., which shouldn't be so because this is the telecom subsidiary - it's the Group that bought ARM. This shows the confusion that exists between the two, and may be linked to the fact that the SoftBank Corp. article is listed on a Google search, which makes many people believe that is the one company called SoftBank, when it's instead a subsidiary.
  • SoftBank redirects to SoftBank Corp., when it actually should redirect to the main company article, i.e. SoftBank Group. This is another demonstration of confusion between the two.
  • Almost all other language Wikipedias already have just one SoftBank Group article, like I am proposing now for English Wikipedia.

merge it. Maybe name the merged article Softbank Group (without Corp.)--Fauzty (talk) 22:59, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
I totally agree with naming it SoftBank Group without the Corp. --G&CP (talk) 13:02, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
Little input but I believe there's enough justification to go ahead with the merge. --G&CP (talk) 17:31, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
