"These categories are, unlike in the classical biometric case, established and time–proven by humans with the aim of differentiating individuals."

  • What is the classical biometric case?
  • Hard biometrics is also established and time–proven by humans with the aim of differentiating individuals. What is the difference?

"Furthermore they do not require enrolment, nor the consent or the cooperation of the observed subject."

  • Why do they not require enrolment? Without enrolment you have nothing to compare a live "image" with.
  • Why do they not require consent? Consent is merely one of several potential legal grounds to process personal data. For specific cases it can also be used for soft biometrics. And vice versa, hard biometrics is for specific cases also allowed based on other legal grounds than consent.
  • Why do they not require cooperation? Cooperation typically improves the quality of the captured "image". Hard biometrics does not always require cooperation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jrest (talkcontribs) 08:13, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

Added a usage section and briefly explained how soft biometrics can be used. Also added an example. Needs to be expanded. Hiiisparks (talk) 09:20, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
