Taiwan and Chinese Taipei[edit]

Chinese Taipei is not a location, so that has been changed accordingly. The footnote is as per the agreement reached during the 2006 Asian Games to clarify what Chinese Taipei is without giving the indication that it is somehow competing under the name Taiwan. ludahai 魯大海 09:27, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Competition Format[edit]

This is an unusual format. In most round robin competitions (including the Beijing Handball and Water Polo tournaments), the losers of both semi-finals play against each other for the Bronze, while the winners compete for Gold. Ergo, wouldn't it be appropriate to add a note to the Bronze Medal match section indicating the it is the loser that is awarded the Bronze Medal? If nobody responds by Friday, I might just do it myself. Devahn58 (talk) 15:19, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You people can use {{PagePlayoffBracket}} to visually represent the tourney. –Howard the Duck 16:44, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic softball[edit]

in the opening paragraph the final sentence is Olympic softball is competed by women only, with men competing in the similar sport of baseball. I dont think this sentence is worded quite right, To me it is saying at the Olympics women play softball and men play baseball, which in some ways is true but leaves the door open to men who play softball are playing baseball in the Olympics or men don't play softball, im just not sure on a better way of wording it, any ideas? --Dan027 (talk) 09:50, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Elimination of China and Chinese Taipei[edit]

At the end of play on Aug 17, China and Chinese Taipei are mathematically elimated as they lose all tie-breakers with Canada, with any combination of teams involved. Venezuela can still qualify for the playoff round if they win, and Canada loses. --(Bandtree) (talk) 21:00, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
