August 2014 Update

Hi everyone.

I have made a number of updates to this page, as well as the Solon City School District and Solon, Ohio pages. I have added a number of citations throughout, condensed some sections and expanded others. I added a logo at the top per fair use guidelines.

Please continue adding anything you have, especially in the Athletics section. I left in a "citation needed" marker because some details are unsourced.

I removed the tags at the top. I believe the 30+ citations should improve the page significantly, and make it more clearly compliant with Wikipedia NPOV standards. If anyone has any issues, feel free to discuss here. I did not add citations to the list of people, as this does not seem to be standard Wikipedia policy (see: List of people from Cleveland and List of people from Ohio). If there are any disputes, feel free to edit the list.

I've added the proper highschool infobox, but it's still incomplete so fill free to fix it up. (Are the school colors officially blue and gold or blue and white?)

Please post about the "Exploding Toilet Incident." We understand that it's real, and it is definitely noteworthy...can someone please provide some insight as to if there was anything in the toilet when it exploded?

There has been some major vandalism to this page in the last week. I have attempted to revert to the last correct version. (Oct. 17)

Solon Music Program

actually the solon music program is phenomenal, with the schools choirs generally receiving straight ones in OMEA competitions, the band and orchestra making frequent trips to Disney world and other locations to preform, and Solon's show choir consistently winning awards and accolades. The school has also produced various notable musicians such as Dominick Farinacci, a signed jazz trumpet player who has studied under wynton marcellus.

He did attend Solon High School for a few years. I have a yearbook as proof.

Dave Meggyesy

I added a link in the Notable Alumni section to the Dave Meggyesy article that I just started. I can find lots about his book and the related controversy, but almost nothing about his high school, college and NFL careers. The pro football databases do not have defensive statistics for the 1960s, except for the number of games played. There are a couple of Google News hits that say he was an All-American at Syracuse, but I'd have to pay for an article in order to see the details--such as whose list he was on. If anybody has access to sources of Meggyesy's performance at Solon, Syracuse, or St. Louis, please add it to the infobox or start a new section. The article still seems stubbish for NFL and college football projects. BTW, I'm interested in him because of his politics and his one year coaching at my high school, not because I'm into football. Maybe there are obvious sources that I just don't know about.--Hjal (talk) 05:26, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Partly because the article lacks a substantial number of references, I've placed a POV tag on the article. Additionally, in the article, someone should address vague statements like "award-winning", which don't really tell much and are also usually unsourced. Spencer^T♦C 21:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Re: Matt Smoral

Until Matt Smoral progresses to a higher level of baseball, simply being drafted into baseball does not make him notable for addition into the "Notable alumni list". Per my rationale, someone without an article should not be listed. If one looks at 2012 Major League Baseball Draft, almost none of the high school players drafted have articles (and the ones that do are borderline notable at best), or are simply listed at articles like San Diego Padres minor league players. Please take note of WP:INDISCRIMINATE- just because something is merely true does not make it valid for inclusion. Spencer^T♦C 01:10, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

August 2023 Suggestions

I believe that, as of 2021, the orchestra is split into three different ensembles, with sinfonia still being the top group and concert getting split into two separate orchestras. Also, how did the rivalries with Hudson, Mentor, and Mayfield start? For more recent students, Twinsburg seems to be the only rival of note. If somebody with more knowledge on the other rivals could expand on the history, I think that would contribute a lot to this page.
