[edit]He is prime minister in waiting, he was nominated by the PPP and this will be set for vote Sept. 17.--Florentino floro (talk) 07:35, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've corrected this. He remains Acting Prime Minister until endorsed by the king. Superm401 - Talk 10:05, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Anons keep changing this. Any attempts to say he is elected (rather than Acting) Prime Minister will be reverted until a source is given showing the king's approval. Superm401 - Talk 00:55, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Endorsed by the King today. Reference added. Lectito (talk) 11:00, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Lectito. Reference looks fine. Superm401 - Talk 20:59, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Ratify
[edit]The word "ratify" has been used in the article for many places, such as:
“ | Somchai was ratified by the National Assembly of Thailand as Prime Minister of Thailand on the 17th September[5], winning 298 votes against 163 votes for Abhisit Vejjajiva.
The King of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, ratified Somchai's appointment on the September 18 2008. |
” |
"Ratify" is a legal term meaning the act of giving confirmation, and normally used in the international law such as treaty ratification. It does not mean the act of approving or appointing. So, I approved the article and gave my opinions herein.

uncanny resemblance to Thaksin
[edit]I know, that doesn't really fit in here, but has anyone noticed the uncanny resemblance between Somchai and Thaksin? And no, not all Thai people look alike. They are not even blood-related... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.249.45.148 (talk) 10:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Removal from office
[edit]The section about his removal from office is woefully incomplete. It ends with "Somchai set up a disciplinary panel, accusing Chamnan of serious wrongdoing and recommending he be fired, prompting Chamnan to make the counter-complaint." This leaves about 6 weeks until he was removed from office unaccounted for. howcheng {chat} 18:35, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- It's somewhat covered in 2008–2010 Thai political crisis#Constitutional Court ruling on parties' dissolution, if anyone with the time is interested in expanding the article. --Paul_012 (talk) 19:59, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
