Why is this a "condensed matter physics-related article"? This seems to me like a clearly mathematical article. If then it finds some application in condensed matter physics is a different thing; it may find application in a variety of different subjects, but still being a mathematical instrument. Even though I made it more mathematical with the proof, I vote that it stay as solid state. There is an equation for the chemical potential of a Fermi gas that was stated entirely without proof. It was an attempt to remedy that flaw that led me to this article. I included a link from Fermi gas to this article, and someday need to go back to Fermi gas and use sommerfeld expansion to explain the formula for chemical potential. --guyvan52 (talk) 05:09, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
