According to what I have heard from my elders in the family, Somavanshi Kshatriyas came from Kashmir. Our Grandfather used to tell us that our Kuldevta(family goddess) is in Pahalgam. It will be interesting to note that there is a village called WADWAL in North Kashmir somwhere nead Pahalgam.Because of the Moghul invasion, SK migrated from Kashmir towards South-some went Eastside and some westward. Some settled in Saurashtra region, but over the period of time, the migration continued Southward and finally some part of the whole clan settled between Mumbai and Umbargaon.Part of the clan left behind and went east, separated and over the period of time forgot their links and merged with the local populace, adopted the culture of the majority and settled. Some moved further south and can be seen in places like Hubli and surrounding areas of north Karnataka. While travelling from Delhi, I met a historian, who was studying food habits and cultures. he informed that those having connection with Kashmir in one way or the other, use saffron in their food including preparation of mutton.I find we also use Saffron in our food. Many Vadwals have skin resembling Kashmiris due to cold weather. Many Vadvals have their most prominent Surnames like SAVE(derived from original Hava & then Have),and many commonly used names like Raut, Vartak, Churi,Mhatre, etc. Many communities subsequently merged with Vadval and brought their surnames along with.
In most recent study of the root of this community, it has been pointed that this community have connection with a village on the bank of a River in Czekoslavia from there the name Hava originated. Of course this is a subject of further investigations for establishing authenticity.
I find your artical and thought I must share my information so that future generations may find it useful in their search for their origin and may be useful in bringing those members of the original clans together in future to come. Kamalakar K.Save.
The 'Somvanshi Kchatriya' word is impure. It's pure word is 'Surya Vanshi Kchatriya'. The Rural Society make 'somvanshi Kchatriya' from word 'suryavanshi Kchatriya' like they call Banti to the word Balti(Bucket).Pronounsation changed by rural society. They made lunch to lunchuya in their language(pronounsation). It is not big talk. The accient of 'suryavanshi Kchatriya' came from Rajashthan.'Somvanshi Kchatriya'(rajput) mostly found in U.P. (Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Gonda District )Maharashtra, and Rajashthan state.'suryavanshi Kchatriya' were not only known for their battle and fighting skills but also it was their occupation.their occupation was Soldier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.100.43.40 (talk) 08:47, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
What to do with this title/article?
[edit]This had been a redirect to a section of Vasai, but Ninadraut123 (talk · contribs) has persistently recreated it.
I'm not convinced there should be an article here. Large spans of the text are unreferenced; the other portions are referenced with sources that don't back up the claims. The article isn't verifiable, and the group doesn't appear to be notable. Before I tag the article for either (re-)merger or AfD, can anybody provide some reasons, grounded in policy, why this article should remain? —C.Fred (talk) 15:51, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Has anyone other than User:Ninadraut123 said it should be a standalone article? Personally, I think it's more a question of where it should redirect to—either Lunar Dynasty (the target from August-December 2011) or Vasai#Panamali (Somavanshi Kshatriya Samaj) (my preference) is fine. - The Page in Vasai#Panamali (Somavanshi Kshatriya Samaj) is copy pasted from the details from the original text which used to exist before in Somvanshi_Kshatriya. It is strange that you insist on keeping a link to a un-cited text and trying to remove a cited and referenced page.--Ninadraut123 (talk) 09:56, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Redirecting
[edit]This article duplicated Lunar dynasty, the more common name for "Chandravanshi" that in turn is sometimes known as "Somvanshi". The term "Somvanshi Kshatriya" is extraordinarily rare and basically a POv title. After removing all unsourced material here, there remains a single sourced statement and that seems almost irrelevant. Therefore, I'm redirecting the thing to Lunar dynasty. - Sitush (talk) 04:23, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
