The entire "Themes" section was lifted from Sparknotes.com, so I removed it.

Why is it in the category of 1977 books if it was published in '78? Which is accurate?

Original research?[edit]

Plot Summary[edit]

I haven't read the book, but the plot summary seems to be all over the place and definitely needs help. The book never explicitly states that Solomon flew back to Africa. In fact, the only other times "flight" is mentioned is the insurance agent and Milkman's flight at the end of the book. It's possible that Solomon actually committed suicide; in fact, the location Milkman jumped from at the end of the book is named "Solomon's Leap" JsKingBoo (talk) 00:18, 13 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There needs to be an acknowledgment of storytelling as a theme in this novel. It is important that subjectivity in perspective and point of view is addressed.

Evaluation of Article[edit]

This article is written on Toni Morrison’s novel Song of Solomon. Although I have not read this novel by Morrison I have viewed other discussions of the novel online to get a better understanding. The article does seem to be relevant to the topic of the novel. The summary gave me a good idea of what the novel was about. The only comment I have on the summary is in the conclusion. I was somewhat confused about what “flight” was referring to and why it was quoted. With further reading I discovered it was referring to a suicidal death. This was something discussed among other Wikipedia members on the talk page as well.

The “style” section could be stronger if there was further development and supporting references to contribute to a rich discussion. The “genres” section could be expanded with more detail and examples from the novel. The “reception” section is an interesting touch. It is entertaining and it contributed to my judgment of the novel. In a way, it gave me a desire to read the novel. The external links held some helpful information. These links could be used in adding more to the article.

A section on characters and their descriptions could be added to the article. There is some character descriptions in the summary but a character section would contribute to the structure of the article and its organization. Adding a character section would be helpful as a reference for reading the summary. A section dedicated to critical reviews would also be an interesting contribution to the article. I suppressed two external links directing to fashion ads. I am sorry to say that this article is quite useless’ the author of the summary has read the book but has no clue what it is about.
