Sorotshinsk

[edit]

According to Turan map this town is the main centre of Erzan population in Orenburg Province. But according to Russian 1:200.000 map only these settlemants and villages are mentioned: (from west to east along the Samara River) Totskoje, Pristantsionnij, Kirsanovka, Nikolalajevka, Novij, Sorotshinsk, Oktjabskij, Krasnaja Niva, Novosamarka, Burdygino, and Gamalejevka. Along Bolshoi Uran River: (from the confluence with Samara River) Rodninskij, Kamenka, Ivanovka 2, Mihajlovka 2, Pervokrasnoje, Malahovka, Koljakovka, Kljutshevka, Nesterovka, Vogoljubovka, Balejka, Guvonskij, and Credneuranskij. According to Erza information there lives about 100.000 Erzans in Orenburg Province, but the only Russificaned Erza names found are Rysajevo and Sara between Orenburg and Orsk. According to 2002 census there lived 2.4 per cent. or 52,310 Mordvins of the total population of 2.179.551 in Orenburg Province. Strange situation.
