The South Gawler Football Club, as of 2008, are the fourth most winningest organised Australian rules Fotball Club on record. Response to questioning of notability.[edit]

Australian Rules Football is integral to rural communities in South Australia. South Gawler - in fact all the clubs of the Barossa, Light and Gawler Football Association - are close to if not older than a hundred years. The centenary book of the South Gawler Football Club "South Gawler 1889-1989" puublished in 1989, is in the Mortlock Library of South Australiana as an important historical document recording local sporting history. Furthermore, it is catalogued at the State library of South Auystralia 0- http://www.samemory.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?c=5714 The clubs and the league they participate in are a major part of the Barossa Valley and Gawler Town community fabric. The BLGFA and its member clubs feed the semi-professional SANFL club Central District, who in turn support the professional Australian Football League.
